Chapter 29: Two reasons why

After a hectic month had passed, I was still uneasy. Sure, my replacement was appointed and was currently training in my cabin. This dumb kid would no doubt cause trouble. But at that point, it was no longer my concern. I taught him everything I had learnt from Nadiya. Also the ones I learnt from others. I had jotted it all in my work guide - a small diary I maintained from my very first day till my last. Seeing how I struggled to cope up with things Nadiya hadn't taught me, I decided that I would make this "work manual" for the "future generation of workers". It was now handed down to Vestry, the future Finance and Performance Associate, also known as, dumb kid. And who knew, that even after more than a year, this would still be the go to book for the newbies in and around Cal city branches.

The actual reason for my uneasiness were two things. Firstly, Kaden had left the company and our new Assistant Branch Operations Head had not yet turned up for the job. And being the senior most in the office  (in terms of service to the company and not my age nor my position for that matter. Life sucks, I know) my head was in the line of fire. I asked Mr. Germaine to speak to his boss (you-know-who) and find a temporary solution.

And that temporary solution came in the form of a Betty Gordan. I was glad to have a familiar face back in our office. And I was also hopeful  that our numbers would go back up with her in the new cabin. But nothing of that sort happened. And man, did she suck in her new role. She was extremely slow in her work and too lethargic. Customers started calling me up and screaming that their transactions are still pending.

I was like "What the hell am I supposed to do, Mr. Chase? I've completed processing from my end. If this woman hadn't spent 30 minutes for her breakfast and 60 minutes for lunch everyday, along with at least 2 hours in her phone, she would've probably approved the transaction by then." But of course, I was not in a position to tell this to my clients. It was my burden to bear.

Two weeks later, I couldn't take it anymore. I went to Mr. Germaine and demanded that he take action against her behavior which was frankly annoying as hell. She was pure torture. I kind of related my experience with that of Draco Malfoy's in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The one where he rats out Harry and his friends' visit to Hagrid's. I felt like a badass. I'm seriously not the kind of person who would do these kinds of things, but hey, if your gonna slack at the cost me my reputation, then I gotta release the beast within. And of course, like Malfoy I hadn't fully given it a thought. If you guys remember well, Darco too had to go into the Dark Forest. As in my case, more work started piling on my head. But hey, it was worth it. Two days later it was resolved and I was waving goodbye to Betty Gordan. That was easy. But I knew who had taken the real action from the head office.

Almost 20 years since it's release

Almost 20 years since it's release. It's still new everytime I watch any of the Harry Potrer movies. One can never be bored with any scene. Being transported back to those good old days, being a kid sitting in front of the TV and fighting over the remote. ❤

Coming to the second reason, the fact that a certain Regional head/ reporting manager hadn't yet approved my resignation. Unless he does it, the blokes at HR will not process my papers. Oh, Victor... what are you still doing? After bi-weekly calls and e-mails to the bitch at HR, she still wouldn't move a finger to help me. I was pushed to the point where I had decided that I'd probably have to abscond - like Susan and M. But I didn't want to do it. Not with Victor Russell involved in it.
