April

I couldn't comprehend how this entire month ran past me like the frames that make up a nitrate film. It started with me looking out for another job. I tried in the usual places - the big guys. No response. I got to know about a vacancy in a leading research institution. The job required me to move all the way to Boston. But I figured, why the hell not? And applied for the job. I was surprised to get the call for an interview. This was a big opportunity and I did my best to ace it. Kaden had also decided to pack it in and was in his final days in the office.

The day before my interview, we welcomed the new branch head. Mr. Murphy Germaine. I was expecting a, how do I say it? Umm... well an older guy. But I was surprised that Mr. Germaine was younger than Kaden himself. That's something, I thought to myself. I had to attend a friend's wedding reception that evening. Seeing how early I leave my office on a daily basis, I decided to travel to the venue after office hours.

I wore my beautiful wine colored high neck sheer lace dress. Something I thought would be appropriate for the special day at work as well as the wedding. I paired it with a matching clutch and pretty beige pumps. My hair was put into a messy bun with elegant twists on the sides. I decided to skip the jewellery save a pair of small studs that would be well hidden by my hair. My make up consisted of the nude 'all natural' look.

Isn't Angelica just stunning in this attire? Wonder how people would react 😉

That evening, Victor came to introduce Mr. Germaine to the team. I was in my cabin when he entered. He was making some jokes and I heard the others laugh. Once I was done for the day, I stepped out of my cabin and decided to join the others. When Victor saw me, he was dumbfounded. I could see that in his eyes. He stood still for a brief moment and then resumed his talks. My cheeks were flushed and I prayed that no one had noticed it. I turned to find Ashley giving me a sly grin to say that she saw what had happened between us. I quickly turned away.

As I left for the wedding, Victor accompanied me to the parking lot. He inquired about how things were at my end in the office and I gave him truthful replies. I realized that he still couldn't turn his gaze away from me. I wondered whether he thought my attire too flashy for the office. And as though he could hear my thoughts, he questioned me as to whether I was heading to a party.

Is this guy a mind-reader?

"OMG! Can he hear me think?" I thought to myself. Well, if thats the case then, he probably knows about all the sinful deeds that had been committed inside my brain. I turned to see his eyes, still on me, shinning like the evening star on a still black night. I wanted to melt then and there. Into his eyes. Into his body. Into his soul.

As I unlocked my car, he quickly doubled his pace to my car and held the door for me. I was shocked at the events. I looked up at his pretty face to see him smiling. I felt as though he was trying really hard to maintain his professionalism. Something that used to come to him as easy as drawing a breath. Somehow, at that moment, I felt a little lighter. For I had found out the human side in this angel.

As I drew closer to the car and to him, I could smell him. His musky perfume. I realized that I was directly starring at his chest, for my head ended where his shoulders began. I realized how tall he was. As I got into the car, our hands gently grazed. My heart raced against time. And as I got inside he gently closed the door. And I turned to be in view of his pants directly. I almost gave a small laugh.

"Have a good one, Angelica." he said to me.

Woah! Did he just call me by my first name? Well, that's a first. Though firecrackers were going on inside me, I retained my usual calm exterior. I just smiled and nodded. Words wouldn't just come out. I didn't want to go to the wedding at that point. The frequency of his deep voice made the electrons in my body act mental. Errrgh. I hated and loved the way I felt at that time.

"By the way, that dress looks great. Great color choice" he blurted.

"Oh... thanks." I replied. My head was out of any words. It was as though my skull was opened and all the vocabulary vacuumed out.

"Good night."

"Night, Mr. Russell."

With that, he left for his vehicle.

The next day, my interview went smoothly. I came home tired and crashed on my bed. I had hardly slept the night before. Partly due to interview prep. Partly due to Victor Russell. Mainly due to Victor Russell.

A few days later I received my appointment letter. All that was left to do was convince my Regional head/ reporting manager/ crush for an early relieving.
