It took the HR two weeks to hire new recruits to fill the empty tables in our branch.
Argh... finally!!
Two new guys showed up. I was really hoping to get things off my plate, but fate handed me these two guys. I mean come on! Of all the people, the universe handed me these two knobheads. Or as Chef Ramsey exclaims... "panini heads". After about 10 days of training them both, they still managed to screw things up everyday. But those guys were really fun to hang with.
Shawn, the shorty with a clean shaven head was a real jester. He had just moved from the UAE and found the work transition little difficult. But he made the best jokes. He nicknamed everyone in our workplace. And they were 100% accurate. Sometimes I wonder what these guys had named me. Well, not that I give a fuck, but still, I just wanted to learn if it was a good one.
Steven (our receptionist) and I had nicknamed Shawn as The Alien. Why? Because of that weird shaped, shining head of his. We turned red after basically laughing our asses off, when we came up with that nickname during lunch. We even secretly held up our mobile phones whenever he was near, to compare his head to that of the picture of the alien from the Alien movie poster. All of this was done without Shawn's knowledge, of course. That was what made it really funny.
Aaron, was the soft spoken yet stubborn guy. He always questioned things as to why they were being done. No offense, but he did ask extremely stupid questions. And this was a guy who had 5 years experience in the same field! Oh, come on, already!
But ever since these two turned up, I enjoyed staying back late in the evenings. It wasn't as miserable as it used to be. I still had to do most of their work too, apart from monitoring all the transactions being done by these two. And there were few instances where one of these guys would piffle and Kaden would make me redo it all again.
On one occasion, Aaron did something extremely botched up and I had to fix up the issue after the client vociferated. We had to send Steven to the client's business premise to apologize for the error and somehow get him to sign few documents. And he too was not spared from the client's scolding. But still, I admit that I was thanking the universe for not totally botching up things.
Slowly Shawn and Aaron settled in on their roles. About a month had passed. And finally, the last member of the new team had joined. Vicky. She was a quick learner and was better at handling the clients than the two panini heads of Rudnick Blvd. Initially she had this carefree, don't know don't care attitude. We all doubted whether she would last a month in the job or abscond like Susan or M. But over the course of the weeks, she improved. She was able to start handling her business. She was good at both operations and sales. Something that was amiss ever since Betty Gordon left.
From an angle, that's how Shawn's head would've looked like. XD.... XD.... a great film though.
