Where the hell had Penelope ran off to?
It was literally her time to make the freshmen welcoming speech! How could she not be here on time?
Or usually 5 minutes earlier?
Something was up. She usually wasn't late at all.
This was definitely a first.
"Ursula, you're up. Vice president has to fill in for the president right?" Katerina tells me as I stare back at her wide eyed.
No! I didn't prepare a speech. How irresponsible of me.
I mean, I didn't think Penelope would be lost at a time like this.
"Umm...I can't! I haven't prepare anything. Maybe you can fill in for the president! You're cheer captain." I tell her and she laughs, shaking her head.
Katerina Reedley, the captain of the cheer squad and also my cousin.
She was one of the most popular girls in school next to Penelope of course.
All the boys wanted her at some point.
We were polar opposites, if you couldn't already tell.
"I...I'm going to look for Penelope. You go stall the crowd please? Oh! You can use this to recruit members for the squad." I suggest and she instantly nods.
She squeals in glee and claps her hands together.
"I can do that? Brilliant! Will do cuz. You are the best!" She says and I nod, smiling at her.
I loved my cousin, we looked after one another but what she was full of, I lacked.
That included being attractive and stuff.
It also worked the other way, where she was flunking most of her classes.
I had already suggested a tutor, but she'd always tell me she'd think about it.
She was going to get a tutor at some point. She needed me to bring her grades up for college.
Now, where the hell could my best friend be?
"Owens, I was looking forward to seeing you make a fool out of yourself once more on stage. Too bad you told Katerina to fill in. I had my video app ready just in case you hurled again." I hear and turn my head with a groan.
Kyle fucking Bowers.
"That was one time, Bowers! I was in middle school for goodness sake." I tell him, as my arms cross over my chest.
Why did he have to bring that up again?
We get it, he was captain of the debate team and people said he was good at it. Doesn't mean he had to bring up the time I had gotten nervous against him in middle school during a debate in class.
Asshole, not allowing me to rebut and stuff.
"Still, it was something I would never forget. You were like a fountain, Owens." He says with a laugh.
I didn't have time for this! I was looking for my best friend.
"Yeah, whatever. Have you seen the president?" I ask him and he smirks, crossing his arms over his chest.
His hands tug at his blonde spiky hair with a chuckle and smiles down at me.
If I didn't hate Bowers so much, I'd actually think he was cute.
Okay, calm down Ursula. He was disgusting, it was never going to happen.
"Maybe, but why would I help you? I'd rather watch you make a fool of yourself instead." He says and I roll my eyes at him.
I was wasting my time for sure.
"Whatever, Bowers. You're useless as ever." I tell him and turn around to walk the other way.
Before I leave, I hear Kyle say something.
I turn around and raise a brow at him.
"I'm kidding, Owens. Try the guest room upstairs. I heard a few people saying they saw her walk up there, talking to someone who was in trouble again I think." Kyle says and I simply nod, walking away from him.
Did Kyle Bowers really just help me?
Never mind.
I quickly walk upstairs and up to the guestroom Kyle was talking about.
She better be in here!
"Fuck!"
Wait, what the hell? That was definitely Penelope.
"...Try the guest room upstairs. I heard a few people saying they saw her walk up there, talking to someone who was in trouble again I think...."
Well Bowers did mention that she wasn't alone.
"Babycakes!"
I hear a deeper voice and that definitely wasn't Penelope, but it did sound familiar.
Babycakes?
Wait a minute, I had to get Penelope.
I immediately knock on the door and hear a few gasps and curses before the people behind it go silent.
"Just wait a damn minute!" I hear behind the door and jump at the loudness.
Okay, that definitely wasn't Penelope.
But I swore I heard her earlier.
The door swings open and I am met with Garret Peters, glaring down at me.
Oh no.
"Kinda interrupting something, you came here for a reason?" He asks me and I stare back at him wide eyed.
Why the hell was Garret Peters here?! I thought this usually wasn't his scene.
Unusual.
I mean, it was party even though it was for the freshmen. He usually didn't do school events.
"Umm...I was wondering if the president was here? It's kinda her time to give a speech for the freshmen and she went missing...someone's stalling for her now." I say and he groans.
"Babycakes, there's someone for you." He says, talking to someone behind the door.
Babycakes?
"Oh shit! Ursula, I'm so sorry." Penelope says, as she emerges from behind Garrett and I gasp.
Were they hooking up?!
Since when did my bestfriend hook up with Garret?!
"What the hell, Penn?" I say and she lets out a nervous laugh.
She quickly fixes herself up and sighs, looking back at Garrett then at me.
"I'll tell you about it later, let me get ready for my speech." She says, before turning back to Garret and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Garret rolls his eyes and pulls her back to him, giving her a full kiss on the lips.
I squeal and cover my eyes.
Give the girl a warning please!
I was still thoroughly confused.
"Break a leg, baby." I hear him say to her before she nods in a daze, slapping her ass right after.
"Garret!" She says with a glare and he chuckles behind her.
Penelope sighs and tugs my arm before dragging me with her down the stairs.
What in the world was going on?!
