I knew Wesley Robinson was up to no good.
There was no way he would just randomly approach me for no reason.
I knew I was hot yes, but guys would barely walk up to me. I didn't exactly have a welcoming reputation. I actually had the opposite and that was okay because I didn't like the attention.
He just had to ruin it all.
There was no way Wesley was going to win the race. I had only agreed to the deal because I knew he was going to lose and it was the only way he was going to leave me alone.
I just knew he was going to lose.
"Wish me luck, darling. I'm excited for our date tonight." Wesley says as he walks over to his car.
I roll my eyes at him.
He was too confident in winning for a debut race...
"There isn't going to be a date, dumbass. You aren't winning." I say, crossing my arms over my chest as I huff.
He winks at me as he hops into his car.
The weirdo started smiling ever since I had called him by his name.
It was just his name, nothing special about it.
"You agreed to go on a date with him? Why?!" Ron asks me as I let out a laugh.
Ron was my closest friend, he went to another school and we met at one of the races.
"Relax, there isn't going to be a date because we agreed that I'll only go out with him if he wins tonight. We both know that's not going to happen. It's only his first game." I say with a smirk.
Ron laughs along with me as he nods.
We both knew who Wesley was going against.
He was a great racer, undefeated as well. He was going to crush Wesley.
"That boy is toast. How does he know you anyway? I mean he's the only guy who doesn't shit his pants when he walks up to you, aside from me of course." Ron says, flipping his hair as I shake my head at him.
Men did find me intimidating, which is why it was more suspicious how Wesley had randomly talked to me at school a few days ago.
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out. I find it extremely suspicious." I say as I watch Wesley race.
Good luck Wesley, you are going to need it.
The race starts and Ron and I go back to talking, occasionally watching the race from time to time.
Ron chuckles and shakes his head.
"Or maybe you can just enjoy the attention? I mean come on, you're stunning girl! He's fine as well." Ron says as I roll my eyes at him.
Me and Ron played for the same team, and we do have the same type at certain times.
Which is why I do agree with him.
"Whatever, Ronnie. I'm not going out with him, he's going to lose anyway." I say as I laugh.
Ronnie stares behind me as he frowns.
"Umm, Aves..." He says as I huff.
I mean I would never agree to go out with him if he didn't make that deal!
He was friends with a bunch of troublemakers. He was definitely bad news.
"I'm actually looking forward to just going home after this and taking a nice long nap..." I start to ramble as I grow confident that I'm not going out with Wesley.
"Aves—" Ron says again frowning, as I smile back at him.
Yeah, he was never going to talk to me again just like we agreed.
I'd have my peace and quiet again!
"I'd finally be happy again at school! No more bothering me every morning and asking me out. Yes! I'd be alone." I say excitedly as Ron huffs.
"Aves! Turn around!" Ron says, turning my body around before I look and am confused by what he wants to show me.
Oh no.
Was the race already over?! But it just started.
There's only one car in our view and I definitely recognize whose car is it.
Fuck.
No, maybe I just remembered the wrong car. Yes! It was a different one.
"I can't believe my eyes! We have a new winner. The winning streak is over!" The host says as I my jaw drops.
What the hell?!
"Oh my God." Ron says next to me, voicing my thoughts as I simply stare back.
Wesley swings the door open, stepping out of the car before the host walks over to him.
I couldn't believe it.
Wesley had won.
He had won his first debut race.
He smiles at the crowd as a hundred people cheer for him, patting him on the back.
"Girl, I guess you have to get ready for that date." Ron says as I glare at him.
Why'd he have to remind me?!
"Shut up." I mumble as I huff.
But fuck, I did have to go on a date with him.
Suddenly Wesley's eyes land on mine as he smiles back at me.
My breath catches as his gaze holds me, a look I had never seen before.
His brown eyes held excitement and joy as he glanced at me, as if I was something precious to him.
"Girl, he is coming this way." Ron says as I gasp.
Fuck no, I couldn't do this.
I try to look for an escape route, but he walks towards me and is right in front of me in a few strides, a few people confused by why he was engaging with a girl who was supporting the other team.
"Hi." He says with a smile as I give him a neutral look, not showing any emotion, arms crossed over my chest.
"Yes?" I ask as he chuckles at my simple answer.
He takes my hand in his as I am too stunned to pull back, curious as to why he would take it.
I guess the winning rush gave him a little confidence.
"I'm excited for tonight." He says, taking my hand and pressing a kiss on top like he did earlier as I simply stare back at him.
Several people were watching us as I grow nervous.
"A deal's a deal I guess. I don't back down from an agreement." I say as he nods, smirking as he holds my stare.
"Me either." He says.
I just hope he kept the date short.
