I won that race fair and square.

The adrenaline had really got me going. I knew it in my bones that I was going to win.

I mean I had already trained long and hard for this, but the added motivation was just the cherry on top for me.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

"We're here." I tell Ava excitedly as she looks at me in the usual bored way, as if she just wanted this to end.

Although as she said, a deal is a deal.

Ava scans the place I park in front of as she scoffs, staring back at me.

"A restaurant? Well, at least it has food. Let's just get this over with." Ava says before swinging the car door open, not bothering to wait for me to open it for her.

Well, I definitely had to up my game if I didn't want to pay my debt.

Besides, she looked really hot as always.

Sometimes I was confused on whether I was doing this for the bet, or because I found her secretly really attractive.

"Come on, be excited. It's my treat." I say as she follows me towards the entrance.

She doesn't show any signs of being grateful or being excited, so I open the door for her as she steps in.

The place is empty, as it always is as I see only one person in sight.

"Wesley!! Where the hell have you been?!" The blonde waitress says as she walks up to me and gives me a hug.

Debbie, the blonde waitress in her fifties, owned this restaurant for years. Business had been slow but I thought of a way to save it a few years ago.

There was just something about this place that I saw potential in.

It became a hang out spot to a few, but I knew it would grow big in a few more months after the renovations.

"Hi Debbie, long time no see. I want to introduce you to someone." I say as I motion towards Ava next to me.

Ava was in her usual all black from head to toe, still in that tight dress from the race earlier.

Debbie eyes her as her eyes widen.

"Oh my, aren't you just..." Debbie starts to say as she walks over to Ava as Ava shrugs.

"...emo?" Ava offers before Debbie shakes her head, giving her a small smile.

"...Beautiful dear, you're just stunning. Now where did you find such a darling, Wes?" Debbie asks me as Ava's eyes widen as she looks to be caught off-guard.

I smile back at her as her pale face has a tinge of pink on her cheeks.

"Sorry, I just. I'm not used to someone calling me that....umm thank you." Ava says with sad eyes as Debbie shakes her head, taking Ava's hands in hers.

Seriously? But Ava was gorgeous.

"Anytime, dear. Now, let's get you two some starters! Here, have a seat. I heard there was going to be a storm soon that's why I closed early, but I'll always have a seat for you, Wesley." Debbie says as she leads us to our seats.

Ava still looks a bit shaken but I catch a small smile on her face before she shakes it off and a bored look returns to her face.
