Piper's POV

'Will you go out with me then?', Finn asks.

These past few months, everything has been so confusing and uncertain. What to think, what to do, what will happen. But my answer to this comes as clear as water.

'Yes. I'd love to!'

Finn's eyes widen. 'Really?', he asks solemnly.

'Really.'

Finn's POV

I break out into the widest smile I've ever made, heaving a heavy sigh and looking to the roof.

Piper likes me! And I'm actually going to go on a date with her!

Piper chuckles at my sigh and we grin at each other.

We sit in silence for a moment. What do we say now?

Piper starts chewing her lip and my cheeks begin to burn a little. I look away and out the window.

The sky is definitely a different shade than a few minutes ago.

'I should get back onto the road', I say. 'It'll get dark soon.'

Piper nods and I start the engine.

We continue sitting in silence for a few minutes before Piper breaks it.

'So...', she starts. 'Where are you going to take me on this... date?'

Good question.

'I don't know... yet', I reply. 'But I'll come up with a really good idea!'

Piper's POV

'Thank you for the lift', I say as Finn pulls in front of my house.

'Any time', he smiles.

'Um... well...', I stutter nervously. 'See you tomorrow, then.'

'Yeah, see you.'

'Bye', I exhale as I close the car door.

Finn's POV

I sit alone in the car for a moment, trying to take in everything that just happened.

I think about me and Piper's conversation 20 minutes ago.

'Finn, you don't have to do that. It's 20 minutes out of the wa-'

'20 minutes really isn't that much.'

Huh. I guess a lot can happen in 20 minutes.

Piper's POV

He shoots me a wave. When his car is out of sight, I squeal and jump repeatedly.

I skip to the front door and as I enter, my nose is wafted with peppery, warm aromas.

'Mmm!', I hum.

'Piper, is that you?', mum shouts from the kitchen a few walls away.

'Yep!', I reply loudly, walking towards her.

'Why are you home so much later than normal?', she asks.

'Rehearsal went more than half an hour over time, and my first two buses were cancelled so Finn drove me home', I explain.
