“Kind of curious as to why I send you this letter? Who knows. The truth is, I didn’t know how to start it, because I wouldn’t put "Dear Lisa“, seriously, I hate you. (your mom) who came back to the US Are you sure what you did, Lisa? I mean, I can barely look at you after I have hidden so many secrets. I accept this fact. Deep down, I can understand how scary it is, I just hope you’re ready.
And to conclude, let’s finish with the reason for this letter: I’m getting married.
Yeah, you must have already found the invitation in the envelope. John was in need of some time here and I noticed that he was hiding something from me, until he appeared with an huuuge bar of chocolate (implying that I am fat, maybe), and inside the package there was a paper with the order. Yes, I know, it’s gay. But I can’t say no to him, I love him. So that’s it, I’m sure you’ll be there, giving me the moral and psychological support I need.
Well, I’ll be going now. The post office manager wants the pen back, and I’m about to be lynched in line.
Love, just not so much, Somi.“
The woman with the long light brown hair handed the letter to the postman that she had written with all the love. She knew she was being very audacious in inviting Lisa to her wedding knowing that most likely Chaeyoung would also be there, the one who had taken a little break from her college friends since graduation, Somi moved to New Orleans to get a job as a police investigator and where, consequently, she met John, who at the time was a police officer and a son-of-a-bitch philanderer. Anyway, Chaeyoung and Somi still considered themselves distant friends. She knew that, just like for Jennie and Jisoo, keeping a distance from Chaeyoung had both a good and a bad side. The bad side is due to the longing they felt for each other, because Chaeyoung had become a dear person to Somi, and seeing her with a broken heart managed to soften her heart of stone. The bright side in question was the weight that, whenever Somi saw her, she would feel the constant need to spit the truths in her face whenever she referred to Lisa as a coward. Mason died suffocated by the secret, but it was not for want of attempts, he tried thousands of times to tell the truth,
Somi watched from a distance as Chaeyoung became one of the most prestigious musicians since touring with Uto Ughi in her first year of college. She watched every TV show she was interviewed on, gave a standing ovation to her New Orleans concerts and some she managed to watch in New York. She almost jumped with happiness when she was invited to be the conductor of the New York Philharmonic and went on her own tour. Chaeyoung’s name was everywhere, like the new revelation of classical music, the golden violinist, the girl of the provocative and mysterious rhapsodies.
When Chaeyoung decided to buy the house where she and Lisa had their Once, Somi was quite sure that she had never gotten over her friend, and as much as she denied it, the red wall was still there.
And she didn’t play the piano anymore, at least not until she became a teacher.
It can be said that the dreamy Park Chaeyoung gave way to the violinist Chaeyoung. It was like watching a robot designed just to touch and please the audience. Her smile was no longer spontaneous, her eyes were no longer bright, and she brushed aside anything that would become a strong bond.
And then she fell. When Mason passed away, Chaeyoung disarmed all barriers and let herself fall again. And there was the sixteen-year-old Chaeyoung being strong for the family and abandoning everything for the sake of Rosalie and Alice. Somi saw it all this time, suffered internally knowing that history could have made a difference if the past had not taken different paths, Jennie also suffered; as well as Jisoo and … Lisa.
And here was Somi, hyperventilating for fear of a wedding, and being the woman of fate, innocently – she swears! – organize the meeting of Juliet and Juliet. She just hopes that in this meeting, somehow, they will find the old Chaeyoung and Lisa under the many changes that life has caused them.
