David was with Sharma and Rayburn, taking about the interview.
"So he didn't give us anything on the compro-mat." Sharma stated. David shrugged.
"I doubt he was ever in the loop. Roger and Mike played the party unity card, Rob rolled over."
"he didn't seem like he believed himself." Rayburn had observed.
"He didn't he had his own reason." David informed them.
"What?" Sharma asked
"I witnessed the home secretary reject Rob's advances a couple of times, humiliated him. He wanted to do the same to her, I think he's telling the truth."

Meanwhile the security service were looking over at the safe houses for Vicky, Ella and Charlie and for Mia. The plotted to try and shut up David, by leaking that he was in a relationship with Mia. Craddock called him in.
"Thank you for coming in. Unfortunately this was something that really couldn't wait." she cleared her throat.
"I've received a extremely serious allegation regarding unprofessional intimacy between you and Mia Montague Jones." David internally winced, SO15 dropped that for now because he was of more use to the investigation, but it getting back to his boss.
"Who's making this allegation?" He questioned
"I'm not at liberty to say." she replied
"They're alleging something that went on in private? I can't see how there is any evidence. You can't give any credence to this."
"There is a recording, and documents proving she is pregnant, within the timeline of your...involvement with each other " Shit he thought shit, shit shit.
"Is this coming from the security service? Longcross must have bugged their rooms. Is this even legal?"
"David, is it true."
"Ma'am, you know you have to caution me if my answer might incriminate me. I'm entitled to a consultation with Police..." he was cu off.
"Don't quote regs at me, David. You weren't just fucking the Home Secretary's daughter but our whole reputation."
"They're trying to discredit me ma'am. I'm onto them, the security service, Longcross, all of them!" he retorted
"All of who?"
"There has been leaks right the way through this investigation, the home secretary's and her daughters itinerary, my kids school, the bomb planted at St Matthews, the security service could have done it all."
"David you've been though a lot. Take time off, stop ruffling feathers. Then maybe, just maybe I can make this go away." he got up in her face.
"They want me to go away." he told her then stormed out. He then went to see Vicky at work.
"Dave?" David turned round to see her.
"Sorry, Vicky, but I needed to talk away from the kids." he told her
"What's up."
"There is something going on and I don't know whether it's going to come out or not. You've got a right to know, as my wife. I mean."
"Okay."
"Mia and I were having and affair and she's pregnant." Vicky nodded
"What do you want me to say?" she asked, David furrowed his eyebrows.
"I don't want you to say anything." She nodded and cleared her throat awkwardly.
"Look, I've got to get to handover, so...." she trailed off and went to leave.
"By the way you're a day late." she told him
"What?" he asked
"Yesterday a security officer came to the ward. He said that you and Mia, were very close, bonded forever."
"What security officer?" David questioned baffled.
"He said he was looking into the circumstances around the Home security's death and the attempted murder or her daughter life."
"What the hell's a security officer? Was this bloke, police or what?"
"I'm not sure." she replied.
"okay was he plain clothes a detective? did he give a name?" he pressed his wife
"Erm, not that I remember."
"For God's sake Vic! What were you doing not getting a name?" he stressed at her, putting a hand to his head in despair.
"I couldn't help him, then he left without making a big deal about it." She told him.
"It'll be on CCTV." he brought out hid notepad and opened it up
"Ward D-20. 2-2:30."
"and what did he say exactly?"
"Stuff about when you were coming home from your shifts. If you'd ever brought anything back, to put somewhere safe. If you'd brought anything back belonging to the home secretary. Even asked if the home secretary or her daughter visited ." She told her husband. David put away his pad and brought out a phone too show her a picture.
"That him?" he wondered showing her a picture of Longcross.
"Yeah." he stepped away.
"Look, Vicky, thanks. I need to get on with things before it's too late."
"Well who is he? What is this all about?" she questioned him
"The less you know the better."
"Are we in any danger?"
"You're in a safe house with round the clock protection, you'll be fine." he reassured her or at east tried to.
"Then why'd you say before it's too late?"
"No reason." he brushed her off and then left. She watched him leave.
David went back to SO15, Rayburn was giving a briefing to the other officers telling them what they needed to focus more on. She sent them back to work and David approached her.
"It wasn't just at the internet cafe. He visited my wife's ward." David told her handing her a piece of paper.
"My god. Cheers we'll look into it. Look, unfortunately there wasn't any CCTV at the internet cafe. but I'm guessing it's why you chose it in the first place." he nodded
"I heard you talking about Thornton circus?"
"We learnt Apsted formed a pressure group called Veteran' Peace Group." the looked at the evidence board.
"So he was on a watch list?"
"No. the group was marginal, never threatened any action but you're right its weird he wasn't. Which brings us back to your security service theory"
"Maybe they didn't want to put him on a watch list to keep him under the radar." he suggested
"He was recruited by them?" she wondered
"A disaffected loner with explosives experience. Talk about a perfect candidate. Look I know how stretched you are let me look into this."
"We've already had a conversation about how fit you are to work." she went back to her desk he followed
"The moment this case is over, I've already promised to go see a councillor." he muttered to her. "please, I'm asking you as a college. Copper, to copper." she nodded
"Thanks Louise." He went to grab the firearms report from Thornton circus . He looked through and thought of an idea.
