Chapter 30 - Protection

"Ballistic Shields!" the armed officer called and a few more came forward "With me" they made their way over to him. Vicky and I hand our arms wrapped round each others. We watched as expo made his way towards David, they talked and David slowly turned him around, I presume it was to show the device. He then took a closer look, once that was done, expo was doing something on the vest.

Expo moved back just as there was more sirens, Sampson was here.

"Ma'am" Rayburn and Sharma nodded

"That bitch is here." I muttered. as the three talked

"You know her?" Vicky whispered to me. I nodded

"Anne Sampson, head of SO15, she's a bitch. Shady as shit, my mother and I thought there was something off about her because it seemed to be excuse after excuse on why no progress what being made about 1st of October. That and the likelihood that she held back Armed response at Thornton Circus is high. From this past month, if she's directly involved its three steps forward ten steps back. " I told her and she stared at me worried. Expo gave a report to the three of them.

"What's happening." David questioned over the radio.

"This is Anne Sampson, David. Tell us are there other bombers at large." Sampson questioned. Good question, wrong person. Even I knew he didn't know.

"Not that I know of."

"Are there other attacks planned?" she pressed. Again good question, wrong person.

"I don't know." he replied

"Who built the device you're wearing?" Seriously, I thought we were making progress. I groaned.

"Ma'am, this wasn't my doing. I don't know who built it." She stood there for a moment.

"We've got no idea of the power of the device or how long he can hold the DMS. Added to which, Budd's got a history of deception and is highly likely to be the inside man who enabled this conspiracy." she was lying. She was outright lying!

"Get everyone to pull back outside the cordons and we'll re spin the wheel." no. I turned to Vicky and leant into her ear.

"I'm going to run." she looked shocked and scared and i let her arm go. She shook her head.

"Everyone pull back!" Sharma called out. We were went to be lead away. David was pleading, but the grip Anne Sampson had me i couldn't do it yet.

"If I stay put, she'll order the shot. If I run she'll do the same." I heard David.

"Like hell." I yanked my arm away and ran back.

"No! Stop her!" I ran faster

"Mia no! Mia, it's too dangerous! What about the baby!" he shouted

"I believe you, i believe your innocent. I need you to trust me." I panted coming to a stop "Do you trust me?"

"Of course."

"Good, give me the radio." he did and I turned round.

"Mia, to Sharma and Sampson." I called over

"Mia what the hell are you doing?" Sharma exclaimed.

"Mrs Jones, come back now!" Sampson ordered

"Eat shit, Sampson. He's innocent and now you can't fire because you'll be putting a unarmed pregnant woman at risk." I replied

"Try me I fucking dare you!" i screamed then turned back to a shocked David.

"You have a chance to prove what I already know. They won't give clearance while I'm close."
