Nathan's POV

I just finished having dinner when an unknown number called

"Is this Nathaniel Montez?" I recognized the voice immediately

"Yes Ms Hernandez, is everything okay?" Her voice croaked "I don't know what to say Nathan."

"Is Uriel with you?"
"No, I haven't seen her today. Is she not with you?" I got really worried now and Uriel's aunt started crying "Hello Nathan, it's Ashley."

"What's going on?" I appealed
"Uriel's not back from work, this is the longest she's been out and  we're really worried."
"I'm coming over." I hung up immediately and picked my car keys from the counter.

"Thank God you're here." Regina spoke up as soon as she saw me

"Have you heard anything yet?" Her eyes were swollen and puffy from crying as Ashley consoled her, she shook her head. "Let's inform the police, we can't take any risks."

As Ashley was about to do so, my phone rang and I saw Uriel's name on the caller ID.

"Wait she's calling." They stopped in their tracks and turned to me as I picked the call.

"Uriel where are you?" an unknown voice answered me instead "I'm not Uriel but the phone belongs to a woman who passed out along the road, are you family to her?"

"A close friend, how's she ?"

"We're in front of a hospital now. She's very  weak but she's also conscious...she said I should call you." It was now on speaker and Regina sighed in relief. "Where are you two now? I'm coming to get her."

I walked to my car

I got out of the car in a haste and went to Uriel's side "Nate?" She looked washed out "Yes. We have to get you in the hospital."

"No, I don't want to go there." She closed her eyes in frustration and I looked up see a man standing by her, he must have been the one to call.

"Thanks man." I reached for my wallet and rewarded him handsomely.

"Its no problem sir, take care of her."
"I will." The man walked off and I carried Uriel bridal style into my car before hoping into the driver's seat.

"You have a fever." I said as I removed my hand from her forehead "I'm okay." She argued

"No. You need to see a doctor."
"I'm okay Nate. I got tired from the extra shifts at work alright. I don't need the doctor, I can take care of myself."
"It doesn't work that way."

"Nate..."
"Take tomorrow off." I continued and she looked at me with disbelief "I'm perfectly fine."

"No your not. Everyone's so worried, you should have seen your aunt and Ashley's faces. It wasn't funny when I heard you were missing either." My voice went slightly higher.

"Don't shout at me. I need this job." I stopped the car immediately and she covered her ears at the screech "If you don't want to I'll call your boss to let you off."

"You won't do that."
"You know what...call him up now and take tomorrow off or we're heading straight to the hospital right now."

She looked startled

"Make a decision now." I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel when she reluctantly reached out for her phone "Put it on speaker. I want to hear it." I sounded like a businessman now. At the first ring, the man answered.

"Ciao Vicente (Hello Vicente)" her voice was weak "Si Uriel, sei okay? (Yes Uriel, are you okay?)" She glared at me

"Temo che non mi viani, sono malato (I'm afraid no Vicente, I'm ill)" she took deep breaths, it was hard for her to say what she had to next.
