Nathan's POV

After escorting Uriel to the driver, I went back into the hotel to have a meeting with Sean. On my way, I got a phonecall and greeted a few people before answering the call.

"Nathaniel, how are you?" My father's voice rang through the phone "I'm good dad, and you?"

"Everything's good. I called Sean earlier and he informed me that you're in Rome."
"That's true. It's the hotel's tenth anniversary, that's why I'm here. Did you need me?"

"Not now, I wanted to be there with your mum but we have something important to attend to." My heart skipped a beat on hearing their plans  "So, You two won't make it?"

"Unfortunately, we won't be coming. I trust you'll represent us well." I let out a sigh of relief "I'm sure you two are skipping it for something more important. Besides, I'm here and I'll oversee things on your behalf."

"I expect you to do just that. Now, about the project I assigned you..." He paused and I waited "The contractors are doing pretty well and I'm proud of you son."

He's never said that. Never. Not up until now.

"Are you alright dad?"

He laughed

"I'm not crazy son. I don't know what happened that made you change all of a sudden but you carried out this job without any problem which is a first."

"I'm proud of you. I really am."
"That means a lot coming from you."

"You deserve it son. What are you up to?"

"I'm checking on the ball arrangements with Sean. I'm on my way to see him."

"Okay. We'll celebrate your success when you return home and we'll talk later. My regards to Sean. Have fun."

"Alright, my regards to mum and Zandra. I love you all."

"We love you too. Goodbye."

"Bye."

Have fun, he said. He's never said that before. I was truly delighted and couldn't wait to tell Uriel about it.

Uriel's POV

I got back early from the dress shop. It seemed as though the dress was waiting for me all along. I hid it in my closet, there's no way I was going to let Nathan have a peek of it until tomorrow. I took a shower and arranged the groceries I brought back with me earlier before sending a text to Nathan.

He replied that he was still in a meeting discussing last minute details but will be back in at least an hour. I told him that I was waiting for him and that he should ensure that he came back home with an empty stomach.

There was really nothing much to do, the cleaners had already done their job. It took a great deal of convincing Nate to suspend the chef since I was capable of handling the kitchen on my own.

It was for the best, the kitchen wasn't stocked up since the chef only brought the necessary ingredients for the day. If you were that hungry you'll have to order not that it was bad but I was getting tired of that.

Time flew by and I rushed to the kitchen to make a meal. Some minutes past then an hour was gone before Nathan came in.

"How was it?" I asked and gave him a quick kiss "Good. I'm hoping that the ball will be a success tomorrow."

"It will, go and freshen up." I nudged him to the room and after a few minutes he emerged and took a seat opposite mine.

"Bacon wrapped pork tenderloin  and mushroom risotto on the menu." He grinned and took a bite "Is it good?"

"Yeah, I could live with this instead of the chef's cuisine." I laughed "I'm glad you like it."

"How was the dress shopping?"

"It was great, I faced no problems at all. The dress was actually waiting for me and as soon as I walked in, I knew it was mine."

"Can I see it?" He gave me pleading eyes but I was firm "No, not until tomorrow."

"Just a little peek."
"I still stand by my answer. It's still a NO." He knew it was final "So my dad called." I looked up "He said he's proud of me."

He smiled

"He's never said that and it's all because of you." He placed his hand on mine "I didn't do anything Nate. It was all you."

"But you changed me."
True

"Don't give me all the credit here."

"You deserve it. I love you."

He kissed my hand

"I love you too."
