Nathan's POV

I planned to ask Uriel to marry me after the ball in Rome. I was finally ready to settle down and I'd like to believe that God wanted me to meet my soulmate when I came to here for work purposes. I was glad that I came to Italy.

I was still yet to tell Uriel about the ball to be held in Rome and was about to do so when my phone buzzed "Hi mum." I breathed while walking past Val and acknowledging him with a slight nod.

"How are you Nathaniel? You seem to have forgotten your parents."

"I'm good mum. I can never forget my family. It's just that I've been busy with work."

"Your dad told me about it. I miss you."

"I miss you too. How are you faring?"

"I'm okay. At least I have another kid with me while the other is busy." She didn't have to tell me, their recent selfies were flooding the internet.

"Its not like that mum. How are the others?"

"They're good. Your dad says your doing a great job and he's proud of you. He thinks your doing the right for once in your life."

"Zandra is good. We all miss you Nathan, come home."
"I can't mum. It's important that I stay here if I want things to work."

If only she knew

"I'll speak to your father. I can tell that your CEO position is already secured, he said he underestimated you because of your carelessness with you know..." Mum hated talking about my behaviour, I understood but it's in the past now.

"Really? What about the other guy?"

There had been two candidates for the position of CEO ; I and Jerry Jennings whose father held a part of the shares in my father's hotels and owned Gareth's business associates.

Gareth was apparently disgusted with my actions and insisted his son would make a better CEO than me once my father retired. Since then, I've devoted myself to working hard just to prove myself worthy of the position,of my birthright.

The business is my father's and I wouldn't let anyone place a hand over it if I was still alive and well.

"He said that if you keep on obeying him then he won't let that Jerry Jennings take the position that you rightfully deserve and own right from birth."

"I won't disappoint him mum, can we change the subject?"
"You'll come home soon. It's just a matter of time."

I knew she was comforting herself.

"But not right now mum." I exhaled.

"Are you hiding something?" She knew me well, it would have been worse if they were standing face to face.

"No... something urgent just came up. I'll call you later okay."
"But Nathaniel..."

"I have to go mum. I love you. My regards to dad and Zandra as well. Tell them I'll keep in touch more often."

"Nathaniel Legend Montez!" She roared on the phone.
"Take care."

I hung up and clutched my chest. The women in my life made me insane but I loved them and always will.

Uriel's POV

"Who was that?" I turned to see Nathan walking into the room.

"My mum, she wants me to come back home." I mouthed an oh and turned to my laptop.

"I won't leave so soon. I'm still here for you my love." He kissed my cheek and placed an hand on my thigh

"I told her I have urgent work anyways." I nodded "It's okay."

"I want to tell you something."
"Is everything alright?" I was suddenly concerned

"We're leaving for Rome tommorow." I shook my head and laughed "Tell me that's a joke."

"I'm not joking. I'm being serious." I kept a straight face "And you're telling me just now."

"It wasn't my intention babe. I promise. There's a ball to be held in my hotel there. I want you to be my date."

"When is the ball?"
"I think in four days but we have to be there earlier. I'm the host remember."

"I have to get packing then."
