Nathan's POV

I kept myself busy with work but for the first time, I couldn't keep a girl out of my mind. Uriel was always on my mind, day in and day out. Perhaps it was her eyes or her smile...it could even be her shape or even her hair.

I didn't care what it was but I just liked her.

I went to the beach literally everyday for the past one week and still no sign of her. I felt miserable and Fedora had asked me a couple of times if I was okay. I waved it off but in truth I wasn't close to being okay.

I just wanted to see her, I had thoughts of holding her. I wondered if she thought the same way. I walked on the beach taking in the environment when I heard a much missed voice.

"Non vorresti fare passo su una signora, vorresti? (You wouldn't want to step on a lady, would you?)"

"Mi dispiace, non ti vedeva li (I'm sorry, didn't see you there.)"

She sat up straight with a shocked expression "You speak Italian? She was back to english "How did you know it was me without opening your eyes?" She looked away "I just knew." Her cheeks were red when she turned back to me and I took in her black tank one piece swimwear.

"Answer my question." I sat down next to her and told her how I had mastered several languages in the world.

"That's crazy. It must have been hard for you."
"At first it was but I've gotten a hang of it." I paused and wanted a change of topic "Nice outfit."

The one piece hugged her slender body which was actually shapely to be honest funny enough I took note of her details; her deep set eyes, dense eyelash, brown eyes, her cherry coloured lips, small upturned nose, her golden blonde hair and although I had met her once before now, her cheerful personality.

"Thanks, you look just as nice." She replied after gazing at me, in my brown cargo shorts and unbuttoned shirt. I could only hope that my ebony black hair was doing just fine.

"Don't you have a tour guide or something like that?"
"I actually don't need one. I like finding my own way...you weren't really around the beach since the last time we met."
"Have you been looking for me?"

Caught in the act

"No, I just noticed." She smiled at that "I've been busy at work."
"Where do you work?"

"At a diner but I love hanging out at the beach, it makes me feel free and laying in the sun is just what I need after a tiring day."

"Working in a diner is your passion?" I inquired

"Writing is my passion, I've published a few books but it's not bringing in a lot of money hence the diner."

"Tell me about yourself." We're laying in the sand beside each other "I want to know you."
"Why?"
"Your the only friend I've made so far.'

And you've captured my heart.

She took a deep breath and looked at the clouds.

"I was thirteen years old when my mother died of pregnancy complications, my father didn't get over it and drowned his himself in alcohol and rum."

I could tell it was hard for her to tell this to me when I noticed the rise and fall of her chest.

"He gambled our expenses away, it was hard to watch him like that. I was hurt. When he first started he hid the bottles from me but I stumbled on them and understood what was going on. He apologized but went back to it. He gambled and didn't care one bit about my feelings." She paused and I saw tears streaking down her cheeks, I wanted to reach out and wipe it away but I couldn't because even if I wanted to be close to her, I wasn't sure of what she wanted.
