Nathan's POVLast night was a success, I was happy when I got to invite a couple of elites in the literature world, the look on Uriel's face was priceless.
As I excused myself to move to another guest, I got a phonecall that made me cancel all my plans of proposing to Uriel that night.
I had no choice but to wonder what Uriel's reaction to what was going to unfold will be. I would have to say somethings that may break her heart.
Today, we spent the day around Rome and encountered some paparazzi here and there. The pictures and perhaps some ridiculous story was going to get home but it won't matter for long.
I was trying to rethink my decision but I've always wanted to prove myself to everyone, I couldn't afford to hold back now.
We were leaving for Otranto this night. The next two days aren't going to be my happiest at all.
Uriel's POV
We had just arrived in my hometown and I was going to put my things back on their place in Nathan's home when he stopped me.
"There's no need for that."
"It can't be possible that we're going on that vacation are we?" For sometime now, Nathan had been talking about going on a vacation to Tokyo, Japan.
"There will be no vacation." His voice was cold and before me stood a depressed looking man. I could tell that he was fighting something back.
"Why? What's going on?"
The words finally come out.
"We can't do this anymore." I was sure that air was knocked out of my lungs, I couldn't believe my ears.
"Are you hearing yourself ?" My voice was almost a whisper and tears were on the verge of coming out.
"I said it loud and clear, I know what I'm saying and I can say it again. We can't be together right now."
"We were fine just yesterday." He shut his eyes as if meditating and I massaged my temples as I took it all in "Why are you doing this? You said you love me."
"I meant it..."
"You didn't cause if you did we wouldn't have come to this. You lied to me."
"Let me explain Uriel."
"There's nothing to explain, You never loved me, all you told me were just lies Nathaniel. LIES !!!" I started pushing my things out.
"Uriel."
"Non mi chiami mai di nuovo. Non ti conosio più (Don't ever call me again. I don't know you anymore)."
"Dubito che ti conosco mai (I doubt that I ever knew you)." I stormed out of the room and called for Val's help to carry my things out and get a cab.
"What happened Uriel?" Fedora caught me by my arm.
"I'm leaving. It was nice meeting your family. Tell Francis that I'll make up for leaving on such short notice."
I walked towards the main door "Is it Nathaniel?" I took deep breaths to calm myself
"You should ask him what he did . I'm leaving."
And so I did without turning back.
"Are you okay?" Val asked as I drew closer and I nodded "Thank you for being so welcoming."
"It's okay do come back to visit us soon." I sniffed "I don't think I can." I got in the car and waved him goodbye.
I recalled the times that I thought we were in love, turns out we weren't.
So heartbreaking
