Babie Wangji is babie.
---
Lan Xichen loves his baby brother more than anything in the entire universe, and it will always and forever be that way.
He would do anything for him, he would rip all the stars out of the sky, he would move the Earth, he would bring down hell and damnation to all if it made Wangji smile.
Wangji was born on the coldest day of the year, wrapped in a multitude of thick blankets yet still shivering as he was placed in his elder brother's sturdy arms.
Lan Xichen had never felt love like it, not in his eight years of life. This little thing in his arms, was his to love and protect, his baby brother.
Wangji had been a tiny baby, a shivering, innocent little thing that looked up to Lan Xichen with eyes like the ooze of a sunset, golden and warm, and he smiled and laughed and looped his fingers into Lan Xichen's forehead ribbon.
On that day, that chilly day, he just knew this child would grow to be talented and gentle and utterly perfect, it was love at first sight, and those who were in the room were moved by the emotion in Lan Xichen's eyes.
Lan Xichen had smiled, taking off his forehead ribbon and wrapping it around Lan Zhan's wrist who had squealed in fascination, and hummed softly, kissing Lan Zhan's forehead, "Hello didi..." He whispered softly.
Madam Lan breathed in relief, even as she twitched in agony, this. This was worth everything, the pain of being locked away, taken forcefully again and again, just to see her two boys like this, this one image, and everything was worth it.
Madam Lan's eyes fluttered, feeling herself begin to fade, "A-Huan... what's his name?" She asked, smiling softly when her eldest snapped up, shocked. As did everyone else, this was not the custom, an elder names the child but to fucking hell with their traditions.
Lan Xichen trembled, turning back to the precious bundle in his arms, "Wangji..." He murmured, caressing the chubby cheeks, as pale as snow, "His name is Wangji... Lan Wangji, Lan Zhan, my A-Zhan..."
Madam Lan smiled, closing her eyes allowing the realm of rest and healing to take over, "A-Zhan..."
Lan Xichen had refused to let his brother go after that, unless it was his mother he was sharing him with. He needed to protect this innocent being at all costs, even if those costs were being beaten as often as possible for not following rules.
But it didn't matter.
It was A-Huan and A-Zhan against the world.
But it was when Wangji reached three that he and his uncle understood the child was not like others, he hid when a stranger approached, he could not stand certain scents, holding his breath till he turned red in the presence of them, and it was the same with tastes and textures and materials.
