Lan Zhan's heart hammered in his chest as he approached the muffled whispers, his two elder brothers beside him and Jiang Wanyin, who, despite his expectations, had become a lot friendlier over the past few years. He'd become so somewhat acceptable to talk to, that Lan Wangji might even go as far as to call him a... friend. The youngest jade shivered, focusing back in on what they were doing. Currently, breaking into Jin Guangyao's secret room, they snuck around bookshelves.
They had spent the majority of the day planning this rescue, every second of which, Lan Wangji's insides had churned with haste. Just knowing that, not only, was Wei Ying alive and out there, but breathing and being hurt, it was easily the most difficult few hours of his life, or at least close to it, not instantly running to help his soulmate.
He was more than ready to see Wei Ying again, but he was not ready to see him suffering. He was not ready to meet the boy of his dreams the love of his life... his heart, who killed himself.
Readying himself, he felt Nie Mingjue place a comforting hand on his shoulder as he peeked around the bookshelf.
The sight set his bones on fire.
Wei Ying was quite drugged, unable to tell up from down all he had the power to do was lay still and concentrate on remembering how to breathe, as Jin Guangyao used an almost dry washcloth to scrub at his legs. Something, Wei Ying clearly didn't like judging by his high protesting whine when the cloth went further upwards.
Lan Wangji clenched his fists, Bichen trembling in its sheathe. Those fuckers. Those disgusting bastards.
Jiang Cheng was barely able to hold in his whimpers, seeing his Shixiong so distressingly vulnerable. At that moment he swore when they were back at Lotus Pier, he'd had a grand feast of all his brother's most favourite foods, and he'd send for Emperors Smile. He'd commission the softest lavender and pink robes, and he'd do anything it took to see even a little upwards tilt of his Shixiong's lips.
Lan Xichen was clenching his husband's hand so hard, his knuckles were turning white as they glared their sworn brother down, hearts shattering at every whine Wei Ying released.
Jin Guangyao sighed, placing the cloth aside and rolling thick thigh high socks back onto Wei Ying's red scrubbed raw legs, "Yiling Patriarch," He began, moving up the bed he grabbed Wei Ying's face between his fingers, forcing the loopy man to focus on him best he could, "I have been kind for five years, barely hurting you. I have threatened that wench sister of yours, her pathetic husband, your Lan Wangji and even your nephew, Jin ling, and not one of those threats has gotten me what I want."
Wei Ying whimpered, eyes wide as he tried to decipher the muffled sounds, answering after a long pause once he'd finally gotten the gist of Jin Guangyao's speech, "I.. mmngh..."
Jin Guangyao huffed, tossing the face aside once Wei Ying lost focus, "I'm going to have to start removing limbs. The only reason I haven't before is that you may need them for giving me the Stygian Tiger Amulet. I'll start with your feet." He declared, standing he nodded to Xue Yang.
"Take them off." He ordered, ignoring Wei Ying's frantic whines who understood the memo again. Normally, he wouldn't whatsoever, but the drug had worn off a little since that morning and they hadn't topped it up. It was still extremely difficult to grasp at anything, but he could if he really tried, at least understand the point.
Xue Yang burst into wild laughter, crazed excitement in his eyes as he drew his sword, lifting it up high he swung it down-
CLANG!
Xue Yang wailed in surprise as he was launched across the room by a blast of pale blue light, his sword split into two by the impact of a superior blade knocking it off its path.
