Young Master Wei?

Wei Wuxian was scared. But the brave soul would never admit it, not that he had anyone to confide to anyway. His sister was too pure to be burdened with the crippling weight of his trauma and depressing thoughts.

Being selfless, Wei would never turn to his brother either, besides, he was too busy rebuilding Lotus Pier which Wei Ying was just too... too overwhelmed to fathom helping with. Every time he thought about acting in his role as subordinate, the same as his father, the air in his lungs would be stolen away. He just couldn't breathe at the thought of it.

So, Wei Ying spent every passing day in a tavern in Yunmeng drinking in his guilt and numbing himself from the sound of his thoughts.

Sometimes, he would catch himself looking down from his high seat in the tavern and wondering if the ground was far enough away to kill him if he jumped. When those times came he climbed back down and brought a few bottles of alcohol home to cry into when they are empty.

Was everything supposed to go back to normal now? But how could it when nothing was the same anymore? That thought had been his today. That is until a familiar face caught his eyes, stealing them away from the ground.

Warmth at the sight of a friend spread through him, "Hey!" Wei yelled amused, "Zewu-Jun what a coincidence!" He smiled, he actually smiled. His teeth shone in the light as his eyes crinkled.

Lan Xichen looked up the minute he sensed a familiar soul, smiling slightly at the Young Master looking down from his high seat he greeted him, "Young Master Wei, pleasant to see you." He bowed his head slightly, watching as Wei strangely moved his legs away from the edge.

"How come Zewu-Jun has spare time to be in Yunmeng?" He asked, "If you're not in a rush, let's have a drink together?" He offered, Lan Xichen laughed a little at the younger's poor memory. However, the laughter stopped abruptly once he realised that Wei sounded as if he was begging. Why would he beg for that?

Wei gasped a little as he quickly apologized, "Oh, I forgot the Lan Clan are forbidden to drink..." He laughed awkwardly, tapping himself on the head with his drink, an action that for some reason made Lan Xichen's stomach drop.

Shaking off the strange feeling, Lan Xichen smiled his regular peaceful smile, "Not exactly." He humoured Wei, and felt proud of his decision to drink with the teen when Wei Ying's entire body sagged with relief.

Is he lonely? Lan Xichen pondered as he walked inside the tavern and bought a fresh new bottle for them to share. That was the only explanation he could come up with to the Young Master's behaviour.

Sharing small talk, Lan Xichen gracefully poured them each a small cup of alcohol, serving Wei his cup the younger downs it like medicine, an act that Lan Xichen forced himself to shake off.
