Lan Zhan's arm linked with Wei Ying's supporting him as they walked back to the camp after having fought Wen disciples. They'd been fighting a lot of Wen recently, lowering their numbers and raising their chances and it was normal for people to get hurt.
But everyone heals, everyone but one.
Lan Zhan gulped at the thought, eyeing the limp in Wei Ying's walk that had been getting worse and worse since they found him. Nobody else knew about it, Wei Ying masked it well but Lan Zhan was observant and his eyes never left Wei Ying, not really.
Lan Zhan sighed, stopping before the camp doors making Wei Ying turn to him, confused, "Wei Ying..." He began, "Why haven't you been to the healers?" He asked, his concern consuming him and without realising, he tugged Wei Ying closer to him.
Wei Ying's eyes widened, leaning his chest on Lan Zhan's he huffed, looking away, "I barely have any injuries and the ones I have will heal!" He shrugged, "I'm okay, Lan Zhan." He grinned, gently leaving Lan Zhan's gentle grip, he wandered through the wooden doors.
Lan Zhan sighed, shaking his head at the stubbornness before following him, I can be stubborn too. He thought with a hint of excitement before once again grabbing Wei Ying's arm and dragging him to his quarters.
Wei Ying gasped, "Lan Zhan!" He exclaimed, "What are you doing?!" He asked as he struggled, pouting slightly.
Lan Zhan bit back a smirk, turning to Wei Ying, his amusement died down and his heart went soft, he could see it in Wei Ying's eyes, the trauma. They were glistening with the burdens of his past.
He sighed, his brain scrambling to find out how to get Wei Ying to open up as Wei Ying watched him, memorizing every inch of his face as he did, "I'm worried..." He finally spoke.
Wei Ying's eyes stopped wandering and locked with Lan Zhan's, utter shock and bewilderment covering his face. It seemed like ages until he finally gathered himself enough to speak, "Lan Zhan..." Was what came first, next was the rambling, "Aheh, why would you worry about me I'm fine Lan Zhan totally fine nothing to worry about now l-let me go because I'm tired and want to lie down and I'll heal quickly if I sleep but thank you for worrying about me H-Hanguang-Jun... bye!" He waved, yelling a farewell after taking a deep breath of air as he scrambled off.
Lan Zhan watched him leave before internally chuckling, the image of Wei Ying with rosy cheeks and dilated pupils, staring at him with admiration forever imprinted in his memory.
Walking slowly to his room, he let his mind wander. Wei Ying always looks so shocked to receive care and affection, and then he thanks the person for it as if it's something he should have to earn.
Wei Ying... don't you see how deserving you are of love?
Wei Ying... why aren't you healing? Was the thought he began to dwell on as he retreated to his chamber and Wei Ying fainted in his own.

Jiang Cheng noticed Lan Wangji's presence before he closed his doors and looked around. If Hanguang-Jun is back then his brother is too. The thought excited him, he hadn't gotten the chance to hang out with his brother recently with war looming over them all.
Saying goodbye to Lan Xichen he ended their conversation before jogging to Wei Ying's room, he then knocked on his door, "Wei Wuxian!" He called, listening for an answer he tutted upon not receiving one, "We've barely talked and now you're ignoring me? You better not be looking at those ghastly magazines again because I'm coming in." He scolded before irritably slamming the doors open.
