Wei Ying's behaviour has been very peculiar lately, he has been muttering incoherent things to himself which wouldn't be that strange if it didn't look as if he was having a conversation.

One day, while Lan Zhan was teaching, he overheard a group of disciples gossiping about his beloved husband, upon hearing their words he frowned, listening in.

"Wei Wuxian has been talking to himself a lot lately... is he going mad?"

"I saw him practising some new cultivation today... he had bright white orbs in his hands and his eyes were white."

Lan Zhan's eyes widened, what?

"What?! That's never been seen before..."

"I know it was disturbing, I left the situation immediately."

Lan Zhan didn't bother listening to anything else, abandoning his class, he marched out as Sizhui and Jingyi frowned, watching him leave.

Lan Zhan headed for the Jingshi with the intention of confronting Wei Ying on his new method, but was stopped along the way by his brother who appeared worried and frantic, "Wangji," He said softly, gripping his brother's arm, "Did you and Master-Wei fight?"

Lan Zhan frowned, shaking his head as he thought back to that morning, no, he and Wei Ying were very love-dovey that day, "No, why?"

Lan Xichen took a deep breath, "Master-Wei has left Cloud Recess for Lotus Pier and... and said not to expect his return..."

Lan Zhan stumbled in shock, he thought he would never experience heartbreak ever again but in that moment he felt his heart splinter and crack open.

Why? Was all he could think.

An hour into his journey, Wei Ying bit his lip, pursing them in bashful concern. As he thought about his phrasing earlier he cringed when he realised it sounded like he wasn't ever coming back.

Sighing, he continued his peaceful walk, thinking of ways to make it up to Lan Zhan once he is done with this mission he's set himself on.

Taking in the scenery, Wei Ying smiled to his old friend beside him, "Your wishes are very vague, how transparent can you be?" He teased, receiving an eye-roll in return.

"Is that supposed to be a joke?" Ghost-Jiang-Fengman questioned, he could only hold the fake distaste for Wei's humour for a few seconds before he was chuckling, "You were always great at breaking the tension, whenever I'd act cruelly to A-Cheng, you'd be there to pick him up once more." He said softly as Wei Ying gulped back tears.

Wei smiled, "It's nice that you want to speak to him once more before ascending to the heavens and being reborn, and I'm moved that you've waited so long... but... he has already forgiven you... you know?" He smiled, tilting his head.

Jiang Fengman nodded, "I am aware." He began, "But I can't forgive myself, and I can't help but wonder if he even knows I loved him." He said quietly.

Wei sighed, "Okay."

And so they continued with their journey to Lotus Pier.

Lan Zhan was frantic, he'd left instantly on his Bichen, flying over the roads leading to Lotus Pier in hopes of catching Wei Ying.

As he flew, he tried to think of reasons his Wei Ying would leave, what had he done?

He could come up with nothing though, as his heart pounded, his worst fear came to life. He was always afraid of losing his Wei Ying, it's his biggest fear and it makes him very protective.

Eventually, a familiar black-clothed man entered his vision, his heart calling to the flutter of a red ribbon. Charging ahead, he landed a few meters away from Wei Ying who spun around just in time for arms to wrap around him tightly.

Wei gasped, hugging back when he felt Lan Zhan's shaking with unrestrained tears, "Lan Zhan!" He exclaimed, "I'm sorry-"

Lan Zhan cut him off with his lips, his soul relaxing when Wei melted into his kiss. Pulling back, his arms stayed wrapped around Wei Ying's waist, "I'm sorry, tell me what I did..." He begged.

Wei's heart dropped, "No! Lan Zhan you did nothing, I worded it wrongly, I meant not to expect my return anytime soon..." He said softly, cupping Lan Zhan's tearful cheeks.

Lan Zhan frowned, his grip tightening, "Why?" He enquired, his eyes trained on Wei Ying's.

Wei sighed softly, stepping back, "Lan Zhan... do you trust me?" He asked, smiling when he received an immediate nod, "Okay... hold this." He asked, in a matter of seconds his eyes had turned bright white and he levitated a few inches into the air.

Lan Zhan's eyes widened as Wei's feet gracefully hovered above the ground, extending his hands, he touched Wei Ying's cheek gently, flinching back when his palm met icy cold skin.

Wei Ying then raised his palms, from them, two pure white crystal orbs rose from the soft skin. Handing one to Lan Zhan, he held his breath as the other took it.

Lan Zhan looked around, seeing nothing until he saw Jiang Fengman- wait JIANG FENGMAN?!

Lan Zhan almost dropped the orb, "B-But... you're dead, you have been for decades!" He exclaimed, his voice hoarse with shock.

Wei nodded on behalf of his uncle, "Mn, but a few weeks ago I acquired a new ability, I can see the dead..." He muttered softly, this new power was a blessing to everyone but him.

Lan Zhan gulped, still in shock all he could mutter was a promise, "I'll help you with anything."

Wei grinned, "And that is one of the many reasons why Wei Wuxian loves the great Hanguang-Jun!" The sweet moment quickly turned bitter when Wei Ying was struck with an abrupt wave of light.

Lan Zhan gasped, catching Wei Ying when his knees buckled as Jiang Fengman too stood in shock.

When Wei Ying opened his eyes again, they were black.
