Chapter 14: Getting the script

Chapter 14

Katniss P.O.V.

Clove is really ecstcatic the whole day today. No one can get her to calm down, not even Cato. He's even trying to kiss her to get her to shut up but she just pushes him away all the time.

We're getting our scripts today. We already know what parts we have of course. Not that I'm happy with that though. But today we're getting the scripts so we can start practicing for real.

It's not until the end of the day though, and if Clove doesn't stop being this annoying, I will shove her into on of the many trashcans we have in this school. And I'm actually serious now, she's really getting on my nerves.

I sigh as she does a silly pirouette as she walks in the middle of Cato and Peeta.

"Clove! Seriously that's enough", I sigh. "We know that you're excited but I think that's enough".

"Cranky pants", Clove giggles and doesn't let me ruin her excitement

I scratch the back of my head irritated.

"How are we gonna get through the rest of the day?" I whine to Annie as she hooks her arm through mine. "I'm gonna throw her into a trashcan!"

"Oh no you won't", Cato says, putting an arm around her shoulders.

"Oh I'm not afraid to toss you in there with her", I say. "If you're on her side in this I'll get rid of you too".

He's not really on her side in this. He doesn't want to be in this play either. But Clove is his girlfriend after all. He wants to make her happy and he wants to support her. So he's in a pretty hard situation. Or I guess it's not that hard now since we're all in this stupid play and can't get out of it.

"We'll all help!" Marvel mutters annoyed through closed teeth.

"Oh don't be so grumpy guys!" Clove says happily. "It's going to be so much fun to get the scripts, we'll know what to say and what to do! That's gonna be fun! And the best part of this is that we're all gonna do this together".

Glimmer stops so quickly I don't even have time to stop and accidentally walk right into her.

"Glimmeeer", I whine irritated. "What you do that for?!"

She turns around looking at us all.

"Guys! Clove's right", she says. "We haven't been at all excited over this, Clove has been excited enough for all of us, but she's right, even if we don't like acting this could be a fun thing to do together our senior year, something we all can be a part of".

Clove is smiling really big and making noises I don't even think is human, but I think it's of happiness that she's finally gotten someone over to her side.

"Thank you thank you!" She laughs and hugs Glimmer.

They both looks at us and we look at them. Well... I guess it could be fun. I just... I hate acting. It's really not my thing. I didn't even make an effort at the casting.

"And you still got the lead role", Clove laughs.

I face palm.

"I said that out loud", I say stating the obvious fact.

I feel Peeta chuckle beside me as my arm slightly touches his arm because I'm standing beside him. I don't look at him though, I don't wanna give him the satisfaction.

"I don't know if we can ever be as excited as Clove in all of this though", Annie says.

She's not much for acting either. And I didn't even know that Clove was until now. I still don't think she's all into acting to be honest. I just think that she's a very happy girl who really wants us all to do something together. But she has to like acting one little bit, otherwise we could've done something else.

We get past the day without me tossing Clove in the trashcan, but not without difficulties. I was so close to throw her into one of those, but Cato stopped me and Clove just laughed at me.

Hopefully she'll calm down after we get our scripts. But I'm not gonna get my hopes up too early, because I might end up disappointed instead.

When our last class of today is about to start, we drag ourselves to the auditorium for our class in drama. To get our scripts. To die. Okay not the last part, but understand my situation! God I hate acting! I don't even like to talk at presentations in front of my class. It's not that I have stage fright or anything, because I don't, I just don't like it.

We walk into the auditorium and walk up on the stage. Effie said that she waned us all to sit in a circle in the beginning of every class. I don't know why and I don't really care much about it either.

We sit down. Only a few people has arrived and while we sit and wait, the circle fills as the students arrive.

When everyone has arrived we're only waiting for Effie to show up. About three minutes after everyone's arrived she walks into the strange with all of the scripts.

She starts to hand out them and asks us to look them through.

Uninterested I look through the script I got. I skim read through it not really paying attention to what I'm reading.

But suddenly my eyes land on something that actually catches my attention.

This can't be happening! I think to myself as I read it again and again and again and again in the hopes of that I've read it all wrong. But I haven't.

It says that I'm gonna have to kiss Mellark.
