Chapter 15: Singing

Chapter 15

Katniss P.O.V.

He takes my hand with his big one and gently pulls me closer, and I take a step forward. My chest pressing against his. He leans his forehead against mine, caressing my cheek with his warm slow breath. I close my eyes and breathe slow and heavy. I swallow hard.

Slowly we move our lips closer and closer and when we're about to kiss I pull away.

"Okay no! I can't do this", I say as I step backwards even more and look at Effie. "I can't but more importantly I don't want to, and you can't make me".

Everyone's looking at me. All of the girls in this room are looking at me like I'm crazy. Like they all want to say: "Are you crazy?! It's Peeta Mellark and you don't want to kiss him?" No I don't actually. Because I don't like this guy and yeah I might have started to accept him, but I'm never gonna be interested in him enough to want to kiss him. And that's that.

Effie sighs and shakes her head as she lowers the script.

"Katniss we've been through this a dozen times already", Effie says, I can clearly see the frustration build in her eyes. "Your character is in love with Peeta's character and therefor you kiss!"

"Oh no we don't, not now anyways", I mutter angrily.

Effie sighs frustrated.

"Okay fine! Fine, we can save it to the premier, make it feel more ... Real", she says, and a sudden light shows up in her crazy eyes.

I sigh and shake my head. Whatever. I can't believe she's making me do this. This is why I hate acting, this exact reason. We can't do what we want and not do what we don't want. I don't want to kiss Peeta but I have to because my 'character' does. Or, my character kisses Mellarks character.

"So what scene are we gonna do instead?" Ella asks. "Or maybe ... I can switch roles with Katniss, since she clearly doesn't want hers".

Elvira Michaels. School slut and totally interested in Peeta. She runs his fan club and always tries to make him interested in her. She's not used to guys not liking her, so when he turned her down the first time she got like really really angry and I heard her cry in the girls bathroom.

"Please, be my guest", I say and I can see the panic rise in Peeta's eyes.

It's almost funny how scared Peeta got when I said that because he really don't like her. He told the rest of the group to help him keep Ella away from him because she won't listen to him.

"No one is switching any roles", Effie says firmly.

"Oh thank god", Peeta whispers and I hold back my laugher.

Ella crosses her arms over her chest. Angry. Even if I would gladly give her my role, I'm kinda glad that she doesn't get her will through. It's fun to see her angry.

"So what scene?" Randall asks.

"Well, we can do the scene where Jennifer realizes that she's in love with her best friend Joshua, but he has a girlfriend", Effie says.

"That's me!" Ella says and hurry up to Peeta's side and hook her arm around his.

"But you're not gonna kiss him Ella", Finnick snaps.

Ella shoots Finnick a death glare when he said it and he shrugs. He's right though.

"And he breaks up with you for Katniss", Annie says taking Finnick's hand.

"Jennifer", I say.

"What?" Annie asks looking at me.

"You said he leaves her for Katniss, he doesn't, he leave her for Jennifer, the character", I say.
