Chapter 43: More news

Chapter 43

Peeta's P.O.V.

"No!" I hear a scream as I reach the door to Katniss room. "No let go of me!"

I burst into the room to see that a few nurses are trying to put needles in Katniss arm. Katniss is trashing around screaming at them to let her go.

My heart starts to ache at the sight of how scared Katniss is. She's so scared.

Katniss sees me. She's crying and at the sight of me her eyes grow big.

"Peeta!" She screams in panic. "Peeta help me! They're going to kill me! Help me!"

I feel a little panic rise inside of me. I want to help her but I can't. Technically there's nothing to help her from. The nurses are not trying to kill her, they're trying to help her because she's malnourished.

I walk up to the bed and looks at the nurses.

"Can you just ... Back off a little?" I ask as gently as I can.

They nod and take a few steps back. I sit down on the chair beside Katniss bed and move it closer to her. I take her hand in mine.

"Katniss, these are nurses, they're not going to kill you", I say.

She shakes her head.

"They are Peeta", she says. "They are trying to put needles in my body".

"Yes Katniss, because you're malnourished, they are trying to make you healthy", I say and I feel how Katniss is starting to relax. "You've been through something terrible Katniss but everyone here are now only thinking of you and how to make you healthy and to help you in anyway we can".

She looks at the nurses. A guy and a girl. They're smiling at her.

It's not that Katniss is crazy now, it's just that she's been through a trauma and she's having a hard time to cope. And I understand her. She was kidnapped for gods sake. And not a lot of people survives that, I'm just so happy that Katniss did.

I know the odds and that everyone doesn't have that kind of luck and that's terrible. There are all kinds of sick people everywhere in the world. Like that Breivik guy from Norway who shot all those teenagers a few years ago. I mean it's crazy. How can people become that mentally ill? And all the pedophiles and kidnappers, all rapists and murderers. What kind of sick childhood did they have? And not even all of them did have a terrible childhood either. A lot of them, yes. Not all of them. Or in this case that the kidnappers are mentally ill. But why aren't they locked in a mental home than? I don't know what to think.

I just hope that Katniss will be feeling better soon.

After about a week Katniss has started to become healthier. She looks more and more like herself and she's even starting to talk and smile like herself. The light has returned to her eyes. And that's really good considering the doctor told us that she may or may not be herself ever again.

She's not well yet though and we told her about Ella. About her uncle and grandfather and how she brought us to Katniss and saved Finnick and that she's now in a coma.

When we first told her she didn't really believe us, but when she realized that we weren't lying she couldn't really talk for a few hours because of the shock.

After the shock drained out she asked to see her, but we told her that no one knew if she would ever wake up. Katniss became sad and said that she has to thank Ella. She wants to thank Ella for saving her and for saving Finnick.
