Chapter 45: Try

Katniss P.O.V.

"Please Peeta do it for me?" I beg taking both of his hands in mine.

I've been trying to get Peeta to sing, but he's too afraid. It broke my heart when he told me that he hasn't be able to sing since I was kidnapped. I feel guilty, and I know it's silly but I do feel guilty.

"What if I can't sing?" He asks.

"I'll love you no matter what", I say. "Remember I didn't like you just because you were a singer, I love you for being you, I don't love you because of your singing voice".

Peeta sighs and nods.

"I know, I know", he mumbles.

It's heartbreaking to see him this down.

"Just... Think of something that makes you really really happy and just sing, just let your happiness out", I say, trying to be helpful.

Peeta looks up at me. He just looks at me for a few seconds, than he stands up from the couch. I sit put in the couch.

The others are somewhere around. They wouldn't leave the house. It's my second day home. Ella is here too, Finnick and Annie went to her house and got her. I think the group is showing her around the house. All I know is that we're alone here in the living room right now.

Without warning or saying another single thing, Peeta tries to sing.

He can sing! He can sing! And I am currently crying.

Peeta looks so surprised and happy all at the same time. I don't think he believed he could sing.

"You can sing again!" I hear Annie's voice.

I turn my head to see the others stand there.

"Hey that's awesome dude!" Finnick cheers. "You can sing again".

"Yeah", Peeta says with a big smile.

"Because he got his other half back", Ella says with a big smile for her wheelchair. "He's whole again".

I look at Peeta. He's looking down at me. He takes my hand and pulls me up on my feet.

"Yeah", he whispers. "And she's my whole inspiration".

"Don't we get to hear the end of the song?" Gale asks.

"You've already heard it", Peeta says. "It's Christian Bautista, I played this song for you before, remember?"
