Chapter 47: Alive

Chapter 47

Peeta's P.O.V.

Apparently Ella is going on that date with Tyler tonight. The girls are preparing her right this minute, while the boys and I are watching tv.

After a while Katniss comes out of the bathroom and sits down in my lap. I wrap my arms around her and she sighs.

"Something wrong?" I ask, and kiss her cheek.

"No. I don't know", she says. "Ella is really excited about this date and I just... What if Tyler is playing with her?"

The guys looks at her. Her fear is strong, anyone can see that.

"He's not like that", Finnick says.

"And what do you know?" Katniss hisses. "You only know him as a guy, you don't know his intentions with Ella".

We don't. But Tyler is a nice guy, he's not a jerk. A lot of guys are jerks, according to girls, but Tyler is not one of them. Being a good boy myself I know a lot about it.

I'm glad I'm not a bad guy, and be hated by every girl on the planet. And if I'd been a bad guy, Katniss would've never let me into her life, because that's exactly what she thought I was in the beginning.

There's a knock on the front door. A second later, the bathroom door opens and Glimmer runs in her high heels to open the front doors.

She opens it and let's in Tyler in the house.

"I got a text, saying I should pick her up here instead of her house?" Tyler says innocently as we all stand up.

Katniss grabs my hand as we walk there.

"Yeah, I mean technically she still lives with her mom, but she's here all the time because we live here", Glimmer says. "I sent you that text by the way, I just wanted to make sure you came here instead of her mothers house because that would've been wrong. Very very wrong indeed and..."

"And Glimmer is done talking now", Marvel interrupts, putting a hand over his girlfriends mouth, pulling her towards him, keeping her still.

It looks like Glimmer wants to bite Marvel's hand, but she doesn't.

Tyler shakes hands with us all. And we small talk a bit. I can see that Katniss is a bit distant. She's still thinking of it.

"Katniss I... A bird whispered in my ear that you don't fully trust my intentions with Ella", Tyler finally says, looking at her.

Katniss sighs irritated.

"Glimmer!" She hisses.

Glimmer just tries to look innocent. But she tries way too hard, and that makes her look even more guilty.

"Katniss I promise you that my intentions are not to harm her at all, I meant what I said about liking her for a long time, but she's always distant herself and my friend has kept me from asking her out sooner and now I just couldn't take it anymore", he says. "What kind of guy am I to listen to what my stupid friends says just because they believe every rumor they hear?"

Katniss whole body is tense, but she nods at what Tyler says.

"But if you hurt her, I swear to god I'll crush your balls", Katniss says and she's not joking. "Got it?"

Tyler swallows hard, which only means that he takes Katniss seriously. And he should, because she's not joking, but a lot of people takes her threats as jokes, until she proves them wrong.

"Got it", Tyler says.

After a while he smiles though, and so does Katniss.

The door to the bathroom opens and Annie pushes Ella out of the bathroom followed by Madge and Clove.
