I stood with Jasper and Rosalie.

"We'll be going to Ketchikan and staying in a house Carlisle bought recently," Rosalie explained.

"I thought you already lived in Alaska."

"We lived with our cousins in Denali, but there were too many of us feeding. The decrease in animal populations was too suspicious. We had to move to Forks."

I nodded.

"Has Carlisle gotten a job up there yet?"

He nodded. He grabbed my hand and kissed it.

"We'll be alone in the house for a week," Rosalie said smiling, "I'll give you two a minute alone. I'll be outside."

I nodded and turned to Jasper.

"I'll see you when you get up there ok?"

He nodded but I could tell he wanted to come with me.

"Stay here and make sure Bella's ok. Make sure she has a good birthday. Don't worry about me. I'll go out and make some friends in Alaska."

"I'll miss you. Right after the party I'll come down."

"Stay here with your family."

He pulled me close to him and kissed my forehead.

"I love you, stay safe while I'm not there."

"I love you too. Also I'm stronger than you, I can take care of myself."

He nodded and I kissed him.

"I'll see you later."

He nodded and I walked outside. Rosalie smiled when she saw me. She liked me. We both went through a lot before we were turned and I think we bonded over that. I was excited to run. I hadn't been able to really stretch my legs out since I turned. We would be running all the way to the house in Alaska. It shouldn't take us too long.

-

I looked at the house Carlisle bought for everyone. It was beautiful, stark white with lots of windows like the house in Forks, but it was surrounded by snow and less trees. Rosalie smiled.

"It's beautiful," I said.

She nodded.

"Carlisle has the best taste. I'm going to go hunt. Want to join?"

I shook my head.

"I'm going to explore first then I'll hunt later."

She nodded and ran off.

I walked in and looked around. I went up the stairs and to a room with a wall full of books. Pride and Prejudice stuck out and I scanned the books. Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Fanny Burney, and even Thomas Hardy. This must be Jasper and I's room. Esme must've picked them out for me. She's too sweet. I grabbed Far From the Madding Crowd and sat in a hanging wooden chair. My feet left the ground and I smiled. I'd always wanted one, I told Jasper about it, he must've gotten it. I felt like I was living a dream I had anything I could ever want. It felt weird. I shifted my focus onto the book as I dove into the words.

-

I heard Rosalie come back in and went downstairs.

"How was the hunt?" I asked walking down the stairs.

I saw Carlisle and stopped.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

Esme came in after him.

"There was an issue. You should talk to Jasper," Carlisle said avoiding eye contact.

Rosalie and Emmet came in and she looked to me. Alice walked in and she looked upset.

"He's outside," she said.

I ran outside not knowing what was happening. I saw Jasper and I could tell something was wrong. I hugged him.

"What's going on. No one will explain."

He didn't say anything. I ran my fingers through his hair. I moved my head so I was looking him in the eyes.

"Please talk to me," I said.

"Bella cut herself and I-"

"Is she ok? You didn't-"

"I couldn't stop myself. They got ahold of me. I could've killed her Ophelia."

"But you didn't. She's ok."

"If Emmet didn't keep ahold of me, she would've died. I can't ever lose control again. I just don't know what I'd do if anything did happen."

"Nothing happened though. You didn't do anything you can't blame yourself. It's not your fault."

He held me tight and I held him tighter.

"Let's go to our room. It's beautiful."

We walked into the house and everyone had disappeared. I realized Edward never came in.

"Where's Edward?"

He stopped for a second and looked up to me.

"He decided he was going to stay in Brazil for a little while. He left Bella in forks."

"Oh god. She's not going to recover from this."

"She will with time."

"If you ever left me I wouldn't be able to survive. I can't imagine how she feels right now."

We got to the room and I sat on the bed. My throat started burning slightly more than usual.

"Have you hunted yet?"

I shook my head.

"I was reading."

"You need to feed yourself. Especially since you're still a newborn."

"I know."

I stood up and went to the balcony off our room.

"Are you coming with?" I asked.

"I hunted before I left. I had to control my thirst."

I nodded.

"I'll be back."

"Wait."

I stopped right as I was about to jump into a tree.

"What?"

"Take Alice with you."

"Jasper I'm not defenseless."

"Take her with you, she knows the area."

I jumped out to a tree before he could drag me into anything. I just wanted to hunt alone. I jumped to the ground and ran off into the woods. I stopped when I was deep into the woods and smelled around me. I looked around and noticed a moose standing in a river. I stalked up and saw a giant wolf standing on the other side of the river. I hid behind a tree. I heard howling and two more wolves came behind the first one. In seconds they went from wolves to humans. In all honesty I would believe anything was real at this point. I stared and the group of three boys. They were all Native American and extremely ripped.

One of them pushed the other into the river and the moose ran off. I watched as it ran away then turned back to see the middle boy push the other in the river. The boy who still stood on ground smiled. I stepped back and stepped on a twig. He looked up and over at me. His eyes widened when he saw me and I ran all the way back to the house without looking behind me.
