The barn that Kairo was being kept in was quite far from the shops that Diana and Logan were at. It took about forty minutes to walk there which infuriated Logan. When they got there they decided to take the scenic route and walk around through the nearby woods to try and hide themselves. They got as close as they could without being seen when they decided to crouch down and watch the barn for a bit. It had seen better days. The bottom of the barn's wood was rotting away and hadn't had any maintenance done for years. It was almost unrecognisable from the picture they had seen earlier. Ten minutes had passed by when Logan really started to lose his patience. "Is this even the right one?" he growled. "Of course it is' ' Diana replied quickly, growing annoyed at Logan. "Well we didn't see anything on the way here or whilst we were dawdling in the woods. Ten minutes sat here and not even a noise". This time Diana didn't say anything to him. She knew it would just make things worse in Logan's case. He kept fidgeting as they waited a little longer. Not really sure what they are waiting for but just hoping for something to happen to give them some direction in what to do. "You must really care about him," Diana said. "Hmm?" Logan had been fidgeting so much he hardly took notice of her. "Well... it's just that I haven't seen you pay the slightest affection to anything except for Kairo. What's the story behind you two?" Logan took a deep breath. "He saved me and now I'm in his debt" He replied simply. "That's it?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. "Pretty much". Diana continued to look at him dumbfounded. Luke rolled his eyes. "Fine," he said, trying to settle down. "When I first met Kairo he had just been turned into a vamp. I taught him how to survive without being caught in the first five seconds' ' He sounded annoyed but didn't keep his eyes off the barn. "I got myself into lots of trouble over and over again" he glanced at her. He didn't have to say it but she knew he meant what happened at Loon Town was one of those times he got into big trouble. "Kairo always has a way to get me out of it" after a few moments of silence Diana accepted the fact that all the information was going to allow her to know. "Logan, look '' Diana gestured towards the barn where an old truck was pulling up in front of it. Logan went tense whilst he started it down. Two people got out of the truck. A man and a woman. Logan and Diana couldn't see their faces but he still knew who they were. "Damn it," Logan muttered. "It's them isn't it?" He didn't answer her but he didn't have to. She knew that this was the couple Logan stole a baby from. The couple went into the barn and Logan immediately stood up. "Wait" Diana grabbed his wrist, willing him to stay. "You need a plan before you go charging in there" "I have one" he said and walked out effortlessly getting out of her grasp. She hurried after him with no clue what he was going to do. He strolled straight up to the barn and crouched by a window where he peeked inside. He saw Kairo strapped to a chair but he was alone. On the other side was a little doorway where he guessed the other couple was. Logan cursed under his breath. "All that waiting around and we could have gotten him out before they came back" Diana shrugged "How was I supposed to know he was alone?" she whispered "You're a witch you literally have powers' '. She rolled her eyes at him "Not how it works". He gestured for her to crouch down too "We don't have time to argue. Here's the plan. I'm gonna go in. You're gonna look out. Stay by the front of the barn in case they try and make a run for it that way" . And before Diana could protest her role Logan was already through the window. Diana cursed under breath. She peered through the window one last time before making her way around to the front of the barn. Logan stepped slowly towards Kairo trying not to make Kairo jump. He eased around him as his face was slowly revealed. Kairo's right eye was black and his nose looked broken. There was dried blood around the nostril but it was still running with fresh blood. His eyes were closed as if he were sleeping. Logan crouched down in front of him and put his hand on Kairo's shoulder gently shaking him. Kairo's eyes flew open in panic. Logan put his hand over his mouth to muffle any noise. When Kairo realized who it was he calmed down allowing Logan to realessed his hand. "It's okay" Logan mouthed as he began loosening the ropes that tied him to the chair. In the distance he could hear footsteps. He turned towards the door that led to the adjacent room but no one came through. "Logan '' Diana was back at the window. He scowled at her until he noticed the worried look on her face. Within seconds everything turned into a blur. The door behind him flew open and stormed the two hunters. The man grabbed Logan from behind and pinned him against the wall. Logan looked over the man's shoulder to see Diana trying to climb through the window whilst the woman, who was now in a hood, held a stake at Kairo's neck. "Told you the other one would come" said the woman "but I didn't expect him to bring a pet" she chuckled slowly. Diana was frozen in her tracks afraid that one wrong move and they'd be killed. He made eye contact with her trying to get her to use a spell to get them out of this. But she subtly shook her head. She couldn't. "Spells wont work here" claimed the woman who somehow knew of their silent conversation. "We've blocked all kinds of the sort" finished the man. Logan had enough. He relaxed body just enough for the human to think he'd given up to then push him hard. The man slammed into the wall he just had Logan pushed up against and flew forward towards Kairo. pushing the chair away from the woman. Kairo skidded across the room landing on his side. The woman got out of dodge. "You hybrid scum" she spat. By now Diana was with Kairo untying him and helping him to his feet. "You may as well give up," Logan challenged. "I don't think so". The woman stood up and took off her hood and revealed her face for the first time. Diana gasped. "Zoe?". Confusion took over Logan's face. "You know her?". Zoe chuckled again. Diana looked hurt whilst Logan still couldn't understand what was happening. Zoe began to mutter underneath her breath. Diana did nothing. Kairo was too weak. It was all down to Logan. Once again he flew at her grabbing her by the shoulders and spinning her so he was behind her. He retracted his fangs and was about to strike when Diana screamed. "No!" Logan looked up distracted when he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He cried out and dropped to the floor. When he was finally able to look around again the hunters had gone leaving the three of them alone.
