Chapter 32 - Aftermath

 New Bostin - 06.05.20XX

It's been about a week since the news of the fire at the Readjustment facility.

In the process, John returned to New Bostin after what happened that night and was enjoying the holiday at home. More precisely, he was trying to enjoy the holiday. But, after what Seraphina had told him, that was unlikely.

But the real question in John's mind was, what now?

Spectre threat had not yet fully passed. He could work for EMBER again during this period. No one knew what would happen next.

John had come home after his classic morning jog and had showered and sat on the sofa in the living room. Since he didn't have much to do, he took the remote control and flipped through the channels on the television. But luckily, there wasn't much to watch on TV.

While continuing to browse the channels, John received a phone call from his uncle. John picked up the phone and started talking to his uncle.

"Hello, how have you been since we talked, John?" Mark asked

"I don't know? I'm trying to kill time somehow. And what's the latest on you?" John asked

"I actually phoned you about these, too. With the information we got from Leilah, we found out where Spectre's epicenter is." Mark said

"But the real problem is that Spectre didn't have a single epicenter. That drug factory was one of them, but now we've got it. Apart from that drug factory, there were two more epicenters. We've located them." Mark continued

"And you're asking me for help attacking those headquarters? Right?" John asked guessingly

"Not really." 

"Hm?"

"John, I just want to say that you and Remi are officially fired from EMBER." Mark said

John didn't know how to react to this sudden dismissal.

"Why? That's why you didn't get me and Remi on EMBER?" John asked

"You've done your work. Leave the rest to us." Mark said

"Thank you, uncle. I can't thank you enough." John said

"It's okay. Besides, we made a deal with you from the very beginning, remember?" Mark asked

"Yes, I remember." John replied

"Under normal circumstances, there wasn't much I could do about it. The sanction imposed on such matters, for people who are not yet adults, is to send those people to the readjustment facility. But luckily, that facility does not exist now. I tried to mitigate the punishment as much as I could." Mark said

"And what about Sera's punishment?" John asked

"There was only one boy who was there before the Readjustment facility burned down, Blyke, a former Wellston student. You know?" Mark asked

"Yes, I know." John replied

"That boy and Seraphina will be handed over to their families under authority observation. According to the news I received, Seraphina's family had her enrollment removed from the school. I heard that Seraphina will be studying at her last year of high school at home. Of course, research for Seraphina's possible, ability-related disease will continue during this process. One last thing, I don't know how much you care, but that Arlo boy is Valerie's nephew, and as you can imagine, Valerie wasn't happy about it. That's all I can tell you for now. I'll let you know if there's any news about Seraphina in the future. See you, for now, John. , take care of yourself." Mark hung up without even waiting for John to respond to what he had said.

 Iapolis - 25.04.20XX

After what happened at night, Remi got on a plane in the morning and went to Iapolis.

After about 3 hours of flight, she got off the plane and took a taxi from the airport to her home. When she got to the door of his house, she sighed and entered her house using the key.

Remi didn't expect anyone to be home, but contrary to what she expected, her mother called out to her.

"Remi, you're finally here. How was your school year?" she asked

As soon as she heard her mother's voice, Remi ignored her question and immediately hugged her.

"Hey, calm down." she said

"Mom, weren't you supposed to be in the hospital?" Remi asked

"Somehow I got over it. They chose to send me home, too." Remi's mother explained the situation

"Rei, although he is no longer with us, I have to get used to this situation." she said in a quiet voice

"About that..." Before Remi could finish her sentence, the doorbell rang.

"I'll look." Remi's mother moved forward to open the door

After Remi's mother opened the door, she saw Rei.

"I'm home!" Rei shouted

"But... how..." When she saw Rei in front of her, she didn't know what to do.

"I'm alive mom." Rei said

"Who's here" When Remi came to the door to see who had arrived, she saw that it was Rei.

"I'm here, Remi." Rei said

As soon as Rei said this, both her mother and Remi quickly went and hugged Rei and started to cry.

After the trio's crying and hugs were over, they got together and sat down to dinner as a family after a long time.

"Rei, tell me everything. How are you alive, where have you been until now? I want to hear everything." she asked

"Yes, I want to hear everything too." Remi said

"Well then." Rei said and told them everything they need to know

After having a nice family dinner and having a good time, they realized that it was time to go to bed, and the mother left the siblings and went to sleep. After a long time, she would have a peaceful sleep.

After his mother left, Rei turned his focus to Remi.

"Remi, now it's your turn to tell me." Rei said

"Tell you what?" Remi asked

How did you contact me? How is the school situation? I want to learn everything. I understand you didn't say anything to my mother." Rei asked curiously.

"Well. First of all, I was able to contact you because John told me that you are alive. John's uncle is the boss of EMBER, so I was able to contact you somehow. The school situation got worse after you graduated, but John somehow managed to solve the problem at school. These are the short answers to his questions." Remi explained

"Hmm, who's that John? Your boyfriend?" Rei asked

Remi was embarrassed by Rei's question and blushed.

"No... just a normal friend." Remi said shyly.

"It didn't look that way to me." Rei said after a smile formed on his face

"You're being ridiculous." Remi said shyly and made her way to her bed.

'Boyfriend huh? I don't think so. But no matter what, he is the person who changed my life. I'll have to thank him when we get back to school.' Remi said and went to bed
