The others were already out of sight, only Peter and I were standing in front of the café. It was already getting dark and thick clouds were gathering in the sky. The streets were almost empty, there were only a few people to be seen. Since it was a long way to go home, we set off. Halfway through it began to trickle.

"We should hurry!", Peter said and ran.

I just shook my head, but then ran after him. I passed him and at that moment the rain fell. In the pouring rain I ran in front of Peter until he grabbed me by wrapping his arms around me from behind. He grabbed me, picked me up, turned us around once, and then set me down again. The water ran over our faces and we were already soaked. A strand fell in his face, which I brushed back through his wet hair. He looked deep into my eyes and pulled me closer to him. Peter gave me a long, gentle kiss on the lips while his hands rested on my waist. I put my hands on his chest, so I could feel how hard his heart was beating. The kiss felt like an eternity and when he peeled his lips from mine, he stroked my face and looked into my eyes again.
Whenever he looked into my eyes that deeply, I had the feeling of sinking into his eyes. His heart was still beating very quickly.

"Are you excited about something?", I asked quietly.

"Yes."

"Because of what?"

"Because of you."

He took my hands and wrapped his around them, then led them up to his mouth and kissed them briefly.

“I just can't think of anything better than standing here in the rain with you, Lyra! I want moments like this as often as possible and that nothing changes between us!”

I had tears in my eyes, nobody had ever said something like that to me. A few tears of joy rolled down my cheeks along with the raindrops.

"Did I say the wrong thing?"

"No- no absolutely not, those are tears of joy. I also wish for many more of these moments with you. Peter, I'm so incredibly happy right now! You make me happy! With you I can always feel safe, you tell me all these wonderful things and since the day we became friends you have always been there, no matter where or when. I'm so grateful to you for everything!”

His smile grew wider and wider, he kissed the last tear from my face and brushed through my hair with his fingers. He grabbed my hand again and then ran off with me through the empty streets and the pouring rain. His white shirt was so soaked that it was see-through. We stopped at his front door, laughing and a little out of breath, then he kissed me one last time in the rain.
Arrived in front of the apartment door, May already opened the door.

"But now in with you, you will get yourselves otherwise still death."

"Yes, yes, okay May!", Peter smiled at his aunt and she smiled back.

"Put new clothes on and then come into the kitchen, I'm making dinner."

I sat next to him at the dining table in Peter's clothes and I noticed May watching us with a smile. I broke the silence.

"Thank you that I'm allowed to be here so often and for the dinner."

"Of course, Peter's friends are always welcome and you especially."
