The hall was in ruins, the fight seemed over. Nat and Peter stood across from me, one man still unconscious, the other fixed with the web and the third - a shot! I frantically looked back and forth between Peter and Natasha to make sure they hadn't been shoot. Then I spotted the third man, he was standing a few meters behind them and his gun was pointed at me. Suddenly I felt terrible pain, on the right side of my stomach, on my right waist. The intense, numbing pain brought me to my knees and I fell to the floor. I put my left hand on the painful area, everything was covered in blood. I thought I was going to die.

-Peter-

Lyra slumped to the floor. Immediately I tore off my mask and ran towards her. I panicked and tried to stop the bleeding, but the wound kept bleeding. I couldn't do anything. Natasha called something to me.

"You have to stop the bleeding, if she loses more blood she'll die!"

I pressed my hands over the injury as hard as I could. Lyra couldn't die!

“Lyra, hey, look at me! You have to stay with me! Do you hear me, stay with me!”

She was still conscious, but that could change at any moment. She grabbed my left hand and held it weakly. She began to speak to me quietly.

“P- Peter, listen to me! I- I don't want to die, but if I die, I have to tell you something… ”

“Sshh, you are not allowed to speak, you have to conserve your strength! You will not die! I won't let you die!"

"Peter, listen to me! Promise me that when I die that you will continue to live normally, that you will stay the way you are and that you will be happy again. ”

Tears stood in my eyes. "No, I can't, but I promise you won't die!"

Lyra's voice got weaker and weaker. "I - I've never told you that before, I never could, but I also can't go without telling you. I love you Peter!

The words left her lips and she passed out in the same instant.

“No, please, stay awake! Lyra!”

She couldn't hear me anymore. Natasha pulled me away from her and just as I was losing hope I heard a window rattle. It was Tony. Mr. Stark flew in in his Iron-Man suit, heading straight for us. He picked up Lyra and flew away with her. Natasha yanked my arm and dragged me to the car.

"Mr. Stark will save her, he'll take her to Avengers Headquarters.”

I could only hope that Mr. Stark was quick enough and that his medical team could help her. We got to headquarters and I stormed inside.

"Where is she? Is she alive?”

I almost ran straight into Mr. Stark's own operating room, but he got in my way.“

"You can't do anything now. She's in there and my doctors are doing their best.”
Mr. Stark looked angry, his gaze literally piercing me. “I heard about your attempted solo effort. What did you think you were doing? What was that supposed to mean? Please stick to the plan and stop wanting to play the hero, especially when it comes to something so important! With such actions you not only endanger yourself, but also others! I only ask you this once now! Is it your fault that she got shot?”

I swallowed, not knowing what to say. Mr. Stark sounded so angry.

"No, it wasn't his fault!", Natasha spoke up for me. "Nobody but the culprit is to blame!"

Mr. Stark nodded to her and she left.

“Good Peter. Go into that room over there and calm down. We'll bring her to you later.”

Somewhat reluctantly, I followed the instructions. It was a large room with a large bed and huge windows. I couldn't rest now, not until I knew what was wrong with Lyra. I just stared out the window for ages until the door suddenly opened. Mr. Stark and a doctor came in, Tony holding Lyra in his arms. She was still passed out. He put her carefully on the bed.

"Is- is she ... dead?" My voice was trembling.

"No, she just sleeps but she will wake up soon.", he explained.

The doctor told me a few more things.

“The bullet was still stuck, we had to remove it. It took a long time to stop the bleeding and we almost lost her!"

The hours passed without Lyra waking up or even moving. It was now about 9:00 p.m. and I had texted to May that Lyra and I would stay with MJ at Ned's so that she wouldn't ask where we were. I watched the monitor on the machine the doctors had connected Lyra to. A loud beeping tore me from my thoughts. The sound came from the machine. Lyra!
Two doctors and Mr. Stark stormed in. They tore the covers aside and a doctor started giving a heart massage.

"What-what happened?"

Mr. Stark answered me, but I couldn't hear him properly. My ears rustled and I heard everything only muffled. The next two minutes seemed like hours, then the doctors left the room. Mr. Stark put his hand on my shoulder for a moment before leaving. I stayed up the rest of the night doing nothing but paying attention.

The next morning broke and I finally saw that Lyra was beginning to move. She woke up.

"Hi, Pet."
Her voice sounded tired and weak. I approached her, relieved to see her awakening, when she suddenly doubled over in pain. She held her right side.

"Lyra, hey hey, all right, this will pass."
I pushed her hand from her wound and placed mine on it. I ran my other hand through her hair and face, then leaned my forehead against hers.
“I am so glad that you are alive. I- I thought I had lost you forever.”

“Hey Peter, I couldn't die, then I wouldn't have been able to keep my promise.”

“W- what promise?”, I asked.

"That with the "I'll stay with you, no matter what" you know."

A small smile crossed her face. I carefully brushed the hair off her face and kissed her cheek tentatively. She smiled again, she wasn't able to do much more either.

“Were you here all night?”

“Yes, I was up all night. I had to take care of you.”

Slowly the tiredness overcame me and I lay down next to her in the bed, she also seemed to be quite exhausted.

"Pet ... I'm pretty tired, I think I have to go back to sleep. Can you stay here anyway?”

“I won't leave your side!”

I slumped down on the pillow next to her, grabbed her hand and interlaced my fingers with hers. I waited until she fell asleep and then fell asleep myself without letting go of her hand.
