Seven Years (Time and Again)

This is a poem reflecting my frustration at having spent so much time in the same place trying to reach a goal but seemingly getting nowhere and feeling as if I were wasting my time. Thankfully, things are better now and I am closer than ever to achieving my dreams.

Seven years

Faded fantasies

Ashes of night

The deepest loneliness

A dream that took flight

I stand alone with myself

Trying to find my way out

Cycles, make themselves over,

From nothing

Day by day, cleaning

The leftovers from yesterday

Pain stabs in tender places

Inescapable, unwanted

The cycles that we are caught in

Time and again

Hope constantly remakes itself only to be shattered

Never heard are the truths that truly matter

I look outside and watch the years slide through my eyes

Seven slow and hopeless ones have already gone by

My mind reminds me that I am blessed

My heart remakes hope once more

In the light that fate may be kind to destiny

And perhaps I can catch the glow of something long wanted

Blissful ecstasy
