chapter 20

Day 20: helping someone come out
(Kyouka, Yosano, and Ranpo)

That feeling came back again. That feeling of anxiety. Nerves. Being on edge. It came back when she entered the office, but she tried to hide it. She sat down at her spot next to Kenji, and began her work, trying to push away the feeling.

That worked for a while until the feeling returned.

"Kyouka? Are you alright?" Kenji's voice was hushed as to not disturb the rest of the agency.

"I'm not feeling well.. I'm going to go to Yosano real quick. Be right back." She stood up and walked straight to Yosano's office. A few glances were shared, but everyone eventually went back to work.

"You're gonna get a stomach ache if you keep eating those snacks. Put them down, Ranpo."

"Nah! They're too good to waste!" Ranpo continued to gulp down the snacks, causing Yosano to roll her eyes.

"Um, Yosano, can I speak to you?" Kyouka's voice was small and quiet, almost mute in the room, but the woman managed to hear her.

"Hm? Oh! Sure Kyouka, here sit down." Yosano motioned to a chair, and Kyouka sat down. "So, what's up?"

"I have.. Sort of a problem. But not a bad problem, more like a situation that needs addressing." She explained. At this point Ranpo had already deduced the whole thing, a smile on his face, but he didn't bother telling. He didn't want to make the atmosphere uncomfortable.

"What's your problem, Kyouka?"

"Well.. You know how old came out to you two a week ago?" Yosano nodded. "I.. In ready to come out to the rest of the agency. I think it's time."

Yosano smiled, and Ranpo's own smile widened. "Well, do you need help?"

"I would appreciate that, yes. If you don't mind."

"Of course! Now, let's go!"

Ranpo sat down in his chair, clapping his hands to get everyone's attention. "Everyone, Yosano has an announcement to make." He motioned to the woman, who walked in with Kyouka by her side.

"Hey, so uh.." Yosano cleared her throat. "I'm gonna say this in the best way I know how." She pointed to Kyouka. "Lesbian."

Kyouka giggled. "Yeah.."

Welp, I'm done here." Yosano sat back down as Kyouka was congratulated on coming out. She was given many a hugs by Atsushi, and even a piece of candy by Ranpo. It was a good day.
