chapter 26

Day 26: Pride at school
(Shin Soukoku and Soukoku)
(High school AU)

School was Atsushi's safe place.
Not because he necessarily 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘥 it, but because he felt 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 there. His at home situation wasn't the best, given that his parents were homophobic and transphobic, but his friends and teachers at school were very supportive, which he was thankful for. Thanks to them, this year he would be able to celebrate his first ever pride at school, along with his friends and secret boyfriend that his parents didn't know.

The foursome of friends were currently decorating their classroom for the party that would happen later on, during lunch period.

"Oi, Dazai! Stop throwing the confetti everywhere!" Chuuya yelled. Atsushi smiled at the two bickering. They would always be at each other's throats, but he knew they loved each other. It was cute.

Arms snaked their way around Atsushi's waist, and he immediately relaxed into the body behind him. "Hi, Ryuu~"

"Hey. Are you having fun?" Akutagawa's gravely voice vibrated against Atsushi's neck, making him shiver.

"Mhmm. I'm hungry though, so hopefully we'll be able to get lunch soon."

"Yeah. I'm hungry too. Did you pack lunch or are you buying?" The ravenette asked.

"I packed."

"Share?"

Atsushi could feel the pout on his neck, and he giggled. "Sure. I'll share, but only for you." He leaned back and pecked the elder boy on the lips.

"Hey! Help us why don't you!" Chuuya yelled over to the other two. Atsushi and Akutagawa giggled and headed over to help with the last of the decorating.
It took a few hours, between Dazai and Chuuya's bickering, and Atsushi and Akutagawa's various cuddle sessions. But, three eventually got it done, and just in time for lunch.
Once they finished, they all headed to the cafeteria to get their lunch, and then headed back to the classroom to eat.
The party started not long after, with everyone who wanted to participate flooding into all the decorated rooms. Dazai had booked the room they were currently in, so that only their friends could come in.

So, with all his friends there, and his boyfriend, Atsushi celebrated his very first pride. He didn't worry about going home late right now, he would most likely make up an excuse anyways. He just enjoyed the party, and allowed himself to be validated by the people around him.
