---------
You always struggled with the concept of "best friends". Being the one that was 'just part of the friend group' was who you always were. You were never someones top priority. It wasnt that you were against the idea, you just hadn't met the one that clicked with you, matched your energy, the one that was the final piece to your puzzle.
But if someone told you that in just. a few of years you would have found your lost piece, you wouldn't have believed them.
---------------
You met Sally one night stumbling around the lobby of the hotel drunk. Though you'd been dead and stuck here for about a year, you had never noticed the blonde before. "WaTch wheRe you're goIng ladY." Sally ran into you slurring her words together. "Sally, go to bed." Liz, from the bar, was running towards you trying to get Sally off. But something in you stopped the bald woman. That something was unknown but it drew you towards Sally.
"Its okay I've got her." Liz nodded as you wrapped an arm around the woman who you could smell the alcohol off of, taking her up the elevator then to your room where you laid her on the bed. She dozed off quickly, leaving you wide awake the whole night often checking on the the blonde beside you.
At some point in the night you must have fallen asleep causing you woke up to Sally playing with your hair and an arm around your frame. "Good morning..." Her voice had a slight rasp to it, she waited for a name to call you by. " y/n.. morning." The two of you shared a blush. Lifting the blankets off of you and shuffling towards the door a very faint cry, so quiet it was almost inaudible coming from Sally. "What's wrong?" You stepped away from the door. "Are you leaving?" Does she not know I'm stuck here? "I'm just getting water from the bar I'll be back." Sally gave a simple nod allowing you to leave.
When you came back the frizzy haired woman was pacing around the room anxiously. She hugged you tight. "Its okay." Liz had warned you that Sally was the clingy type and had issues trusting people, but the way she acted upon it towards you was endearing in a way. At least you liked to think.
The two of you could be found spending the whole day together. Whether that was causing mischief with the guests by taunting them knowing it would drive Iris off the wall, with her now not wanting the ghosts to bother the people, or drinking the night away unil Liz had to kick you two out. All the while getting to know eachother more was the best decision you ever made.
-----------------
That leads us to now six years later- where you lie in bed with Sally right by your side as per usual, with her playing with your hair as you spammed her phone with random pictures of yourself knowing she'd keep every single one no matter how unflattering it was. "Now my storage is full." She laughed. "I'm bored." Sitting up facing Sally you could tell she had an idea. "Wanna go annoy Liz?" It was about 10pm, it was routine at this point.
Sally sat down on one of the barstools, placing you on her lap. Ringing the bell on the counter continuously Liz came from a room in the back. "Helloo Liz." You scrunched your nose with a smirk. "Y/N." Leaning against the bar with elbows on the top. "What do you two want."
"The usual, tick tock sweetheart." Sally budded in slamming her hand on the counter. As Liz poured the drinks she asked the question you two got at multiple times a week by the others who apparently had a secret bet going around on you and Sally's relationship status. - "are you guys together yet?"
Sally always got annoyed at this, her trust issues caused her to like partner relationships less and less as the years went on. But when she sobered up that day you woke up next to her and got to know how kind and caring towards her you were she knew she needed someone like that in her life. Resulting all of her trust going into you. She told you everything. You two were just really close, so exchanging cheek kisses, holding hands in the hallways, or sneaking little "I love yous" could easily be mistaken.
"PLATONIC!" you said at the same time causing Liz to roll her eyes as that was always the response you'd give to anyone that would ask the stupid question. But it was true every time. You feel the need to be with her. But without the need to touch or kiss her romantically like lovers would. You want to be with her in a spiritual way. Nothing more. It suits you just fine.
"Come on let's go." Sally whispered lifting you off her lap.
Heading back to your room Sally took a light grasp of your hand, smiling brightly. Later that night you laid your head in the blondes lap drawing patterns on her torso with your finger, as she kissed your cheek and continued playing with your hair tucking any strays behind your ear.
"I Love you y/n." She looked down at you beaming a comfortable smile. "I love you too."
After all these years you had finally found your missing piece....
