Crying Out

With the Mindstone in hand, Thanos dives deeper into Loki's mind. The electricity-like pain courses through Loki's body as he continues to fight Thanos' grip on his mind.

"Get out!" Loki yells through the pain with his teeth clenched, "Get out of my head!"

He pushes back with all his might and Thanos' grip starts to loosen. Loki knows he can't hold the Mindstone's power back long. With the rest of the power he can muster, Loki calls out to his brother again.

'Thor!' Tears gleam at the edge of his eyes, 'Thor!' Loki's head drops as his hold on the Mindstone's power ceases, 'please help me.'

Thanos stops using the Mindstone on Loki, just to grab a handful of Loki's hair. "Listen hear, Loki Laufeyson Prince of Asgard God of Mischief, there's no getting out of here." Thanos snickers, "No one cares enough to look for you." He gets a little closer to Loki's face, "You're nothing-"

Loki quickly hits Thanos' nose with his forehead, making a single drop of blood run out of Thano's left nostril as he takes a quick step back with a hand full of Loki's hair.

Thanos wipes his nose and finds the blood. With dark glaring eyes, Thanos forces as much of the Mindstone's power onto Loki as possible. Loki's head is whipped back and he's staring up at the black ceiling as Thanos picks through his brain.

The deeper Thanos goes into his mind the worse the electricity-like pain is. Loki watches bits of his memories infront of his eyes. He can slightly hear Thanos lightly saying, 'Nope. Nope. Not that one. Gotta go deeper.'

Loki's whole body tenses, with every muscle in his body constricting every other second.

"I found it." Loki can almost hear Thanos' smirk. "I own you now."

Loki's dearest teenage memory plays infront of his eyes.

Loki sits in the library, in his normal window spot reading another book on sorcery. Which is interrupted by Loki's wandering thoughts about his brother. He shakes his head and goes back to reading his book. However, as soon as he does, Thor's friends come walking into the library. Sif, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg. With no respect for the library or its book, they sit on the tables, pushing books on the floor in the process.

"What's up bookworm?" Hogun asks with disgust.

"I-"

"We don't really care," Volstagg snickers, "We just wanna know where Thor is."

"Yeah, he skipped out on hanging out with us earlier." Sif says with crossed arms.

Fandral looks over at Loki to see his eye roll and him opening up his book once more. Fandral slightly smirks at Loki's actions.

"Are you ignoring us, mini-prince?" Hogun spits out as he stands up from the table he's sitting on and quickly moves towards Loki.

"Yeah, we're talking to you, bookworm." Sif angrily says as she follows Hogun's lead.

"You worthless bookworm." Volstagg says and hits Loki's book out of his hands.

"Guys-" Fandral starts.

"You're a worthless no good prince who will never be king." Sif spits at Loki. 

"Yeah, what's the point of you again?" Volstagg asks with disgust.

Fandral goes to say something, but Hogan chimes in. "He doesn't have a purpose, he's nothing."

Loki feels some of his powers building inside of him, but he tries to hold them in. 'Don't mind them.' Loki tells himself. 'They're Thor's friends, I can't hurt them.'

Thunder roars outside of the window.

The tauntings stop and Loki lifts his head to look around. He knows his brother is causing the thunder, there's no other person that can. Thor's friends back away from Loki just before Thor appears inside the library.

"Leave him alone." Thor almost growls. "He's my brother and you shall not treat him like this."

"Brother, it's fine," Loki looks at Thor with cautious eyes, "they're just messing around."

"Yeah, they're just messing with the scrawny bookworm." Fandral slides off the table he's sitting on.

There's another roar of thunder, then Thor almost growls as he says; "Never call him that again." Thor's eyes darken, making Fandral gulp. "He's my brother, a prince of Asgard, show him your respect." They each nod. "Now get out."

They all quickly walk past Thor, not making eye contact, and leave the library. The last thing to be heard from them is the library door closing.

Thor quickly walks to his brother, with the thunder clouds outside quickly clearing up. "I'm so sorry, Loki." Thor looks at Loki with sincere eyes.

"It's fine, Thor." Loki shrugs and levitates his book back up to him. "They didn't say anything they haven't said before."

"They've done this before?" Thor asks, slightly angered. "Why haven't you told me?"

"I don't know." Loki shrugs with wide eyes. "Fandral usually stops them before it gets too bad." Loki glances over to Thor to see his eye roll.

"Yeah, Fandral seemed like a lot of help this time."

"He's the only, truly nice friend you have." Loki fiddles with his hands on top of his book.

"Nah, I think you just got a thing for him." Thor smirks over at him.

"Only in his dreams." Loki laughs.

Thor smiles at Loki with warm eyes.

. . .

"This is it?" Thanos asks with a chuckle. "One of you're core memories is your brother rescuing you from his asshole friends?" Thanos chuckles once more, "Damn you're a messed up kid, but it'll do."

"What-" Loki heaves in a breath. "-what are you-" Another breath. "-are you going to-" Another. "-to do with it?"

"You'll see." Thanos smirks and goes back into Loki's mind.

Bit by bit and electrifying pain after electrifying pain, Thanos contorts Loki's memory. Thanos lets the memory play through Loki's mind once more with its changes.

Instead of Thor coming to rescue Loki from his asshole friends, Thor is with his asshole friends making fun of Loki right along with them. Changes to this one core memory, changes the rest of Loki's memories, to where Thor is always mean him and Loki's always feeling like he's never belonged and was always deeply hated by everyone.

And from that, Loki never calls out for his brother again. Within a few weeks, he'll be sent to Midgard with the Mindstone in his scepter to retrieve the Tesseract.
