The battle of New York continued, with people screaming in terror and chitauri after chitauri being beaten. The Avengers fought with everything they had, even as a missile was sent to decimate the city.
Thor fought on the ground but kept an eye out for his brother. Loki had landed on one of the chitauri flyers and was flying around while commanding the fleet that was given to him. In truth, it seemed like the fighting would never stop because no matter what they did the chitauri just kept coming.
Thor used his hammer, his fists, and lightning but nothing seemed to slow them down. But in truth Thor did not mind the fighting, it kept his mind off of his brother. That is until Hawkeye blew up the chitauri flyer Loki was on.
Thor's first instinct was to go and check on his brother. He knows that none of this is his fault and he does not want him harmed for any of it. But no one would believe him if he spoke of it. Magic is not of this world.
It was even more unsettling for him to see Hulk jump into the Stark Tower. Thor knew Loki did not stand a chance against Hulk.
It wasn't until Black Widow said she got Loki's scepter that Thor thought the fighting would finally be over. But what truly ended the battle was Iron Man's heroic venture to take the missile that was heading right towards them into the space drift. The missile obliterated the chitauri mothership, making them fall to the ground.
Iron Man came falling back to the Earth at a speeding rate, Hulk caught and brought him to the ground safely. All the Avengers surrounded him worried he was dead... all except Thor.
. . .
As Hulk startles Iron Man awake, Thor swings Mjolnir above his head and then flies up to the top of Stark Tower. He hears some hollering as he flies off but he just continues towards Loki.
Thor flies through the broken window and finds Loki buried in the ground by Hulk. "Loki." Thor's voice is coarse with worry as he kneels down beside his brother. "Loki, can you hear me?"
He feels tears rush to his eyes as he looks over his brother's beaten figure. From the cuts on his face to the sheer stillness of his body that has pieces of the floor all over it. His arms are even laying the same way that Asgardians place their deads' arms to lay them to rest.
Though Thor sees Loki's chest moving the sheer thought of losing him all over again scares him beyond belief. Tears roll down Thor's face as he moves pieces of the flooring off of his brother.
Loki's eye jolt open. He sits up quickly to find himself back in chains that are wrapped around his legs, holding him to the ground. He looks up to find the mad titan stomping toward him. "Loki!" He screams as he charges at him. Loki braces himself for impact. "No!" he yells.

Thor hears his brother gasp. "Loki." Thor shakes his brother, "Loki." He moves his hands to Loki's face and rubs his thumbs on his cheeks. "Loki, I'm right here." Thor looks into his brother's eyes which have rolled backward with only the white of them showing.

Unable to defend himself Loki takes every hit that Thanos throws at him. He squeezes his eyes shut, but as soon as he does he hears; 'Loki, please.' Loki opens his eyes once more and looks up into the endless space above him.Thanos stops beating Loki as he realizes what is happening. He watches the chains slowly remove themselves from Loki's legs. "You might get out of here," Thanos gives Loki an evil grin, "but we are linked now you and I." Thanos takes small steps back, gradually disappearing into the darkness. "And I will find you."
~
Loki slowly opens his eyes and finds Thor's red and teary eyes peering down at him. Thor can't help but scoop his brother up into his arms and hold him. Loki grunts from the pain that he's in, but he squeezes Thor tightly nonetheless."Let us go home, brother." Thor says as he starts to let go of Loki. But Loki just nods into Thor's shoulder and holds him tighter.
