Hard Landing

Loki falls from a blackhole and smacks down onto cold ground. There is not vegetation to soothe his fall and there is no warmth to its atmosphere. Where he landed feels barren and fragile, and yet it also feels familiar.

As the pain from the initial impact dulls, Loki lifts himself up. But as he takes in his surroundings he falls back to his knees. 'This can't be.' Loki's mind hisses at him. 

From the red moon on the horizon to the dark blue starlit sky above him, Loki makes no mistake to where he is. Chitauri Prime.

And with the quake of the surface Loki knows he is not alone. "Loki Laufeyson, Prince of Asgard, God of Mischief." Loki feels his body tremble as the purple titan comes into view. "I told you," Thanos gives Loki a wicked smile as he gets closer, "you cannot escape me."

Thor's body smacks the ground as he skips across the grass surface, like a flat rock does to water, only to be stopped when he comes into contact with a tree. A dull pain echoes through his body as he stands. For a second, he forgets what has just happened, he forgets about his mother's death, about breaking Loki out of his cell, about falling into the black hole, about trying to confess to Loki. But it all comes racing back once his head stops spinning.  This is when he begins to panic.

"Loki!" Thor yells, starting to scan the immediate area, "Loki!"

Thor calls Mjolnir to his hand and immediately swings the hammer to fly into the skies. 'Could we have come out in the same area?' Thor wonders to himself as he surveys the ground below him. Thor has no recollection of this area of Midgard that he has landed in, making him feel more anxious when he doesn't find Loki.

"Loki!" He yells for what feels like the hundredth time, "Loki!" He yells once more, but he knows that him calling is of no use, his voice is coarse from the yelling and won't be audible by the time it reaches the surface.

Thor is about to turn and fly the other direction when a golden shimmer catches his eye. Immediately Thor dives to the ground, making a title wave of  air gush away from him as he lands. He sprints to towards where the shimmer was coming from. This is where Thor finds him.

Loki is face down underneath the angled skiff. Thor runs to Loki and throws the skiff off of him. Loki does not move, not even after the weight of the skiff is off of him, he is so still that Thor almost misses the fact that he's breathing. Thor kneels beside Loki and rolls him to where Loki's head is on his knees.

Though many mortals would not believe it is possible, blood is running down from cuts on Loki's face, and Thor knows those are not the only injuries that Loki has sustained. Thor places his hand on Loki's face, wiping some of the blood off with his thumb. Loki is cool to the touch, only a couple degrees above frost-giant temperature.

Several minutes pass and Loki is still out cold. 'He should've woken by now.' Thor thinks peering down at Loki, seeing that his injuries from his fall are healed and there is no more blood on his face. It is only when Loki's breathing becomes shallow and his breath is a visible mist that Thor pieces together what is going on.

Thor thinks about after the battle of New York, how Loki had drifted into his shattered mind after being beaten. Then he thinks about how Loki's nightmare made him turn cold and the frostbite he got from Loki's touch. Then it clicks, the unconscious mind is defenseless.

Loki's skin begins to fade into a light blue and his breathing begins to quicken. 'How do I help him?' Thor wonders as he pulls his hand away from Loki's freezing face. Thor holds no power like his mother's or Loki's, he cannot peer into another's mind nor heal someone with just a touch of his hand.

Thor looks up to the sky and the space beyond it, "Gods help me," tears prick his eyes, "what do I do?"
