A tantalizing scream wakes Thor up. He jumps out of bed and is quick to call upon Mjolnir. Though as the haze leaves his eyes he knows that the scream doesn't reside within this realm.

Ever since his mother showed him Loki was alive, Thor has been linked to his brother's pain. He felt it once in battle while searching for him. The pain was so bad that Thor almost keeled over from it. It takes a lot of pain to do that to him, so he can only imagine what it felt like for Loki.

While sleeping it's a little different. Like this morning it's sometimes a distant scream, or other times he wakes from a nightmare where he's inflicting this pain upon his brother. He would pick the scream over the nightmares any day.

Each day, if he's in Asgard, he wakes from either the nightmare or scream then works out till the sun rises. After he eats the breakfast that his mother forces upon him, he goes to Heimdall to find the next realm to visit in search of his brother.

As he walks into the newly built Bifrost he finds Heimdall standing with his sword at the ready as always.

"And where would you like to go today, my prince?" In truth, Heimdall has been the only one to be kind about Thor searching for his brother.

"Just pick a realm Heimdall, I'll search for him anywhere you send me."

"In these past two months, you have searched every livable realm. There's truly nowhere left to search but space itself."

"Then just send me to a random part of space."

"I will not." Heimdall's eyes stare forward out of the Bifrost. "I can not pinpoint you in space, so I wouldn't be able to bring you back here."

"I don't care, Heimdall, I need to find him."

"You need to find him or you need to get your nightmares to go away?" Heimdall glimpses at him for a second with a sincere look.

"What are you talking about?"

"I see all, Thor. You think I don't know about you waking up from a restless sleep where you yell out no all night?" Heimdall moves from his normal stance as he continues talking to Thor. "I'm sure many people here in Asgard have heard your yelling."

"Me wanting to find my brother has nothing to do with the nightmares, it has everything to do with me knowing he's out there and me knowing he's been tortured every minute of every day." Thor feels his eyes start to water. "I can feel him growing tiresome each day, wanting to give in to whoever holds him and I can't let that happen. Not when I know what is happening to him and I know I can help him."

"I know you feel that way, Thor, but I can not see Loki anywhere and I am not letting you fly through space in search of someone you may never find." Heimdall gives Thor a sincere look as he places his hand on Thor's shoulder. "Maybe it's time to stop searching."

"You believe he's dead." Thor takes a step back from his dear friend. "You believe that since you can't see him, he's dead." Thor walks around him and lets Heimdall's eyes follow. "You believe this is all in my head."

"Thor, I-"

"No, I shall prove it to you. I will find him and then you will see." A tear rolls down Thor's face as he starts to leave the Bifrost. "He's alive, Heimdall, I know he is."

That night, Thor tries to use his connection to his brother's pain to communicate with his brother or at least see where he is or something. Though on this night Thor feels no pain from his brother, he feels nothing from him.

'Is he dead?' Thor asks himself. 'Could I be too late?' Thor holds his head in his hands. 'I have failed you brother, I am sorry.'
