Walking back to the bridge, all Thor can think about is Loki's eyes. They shifted colors from blue to green and back to blue again. Whoever did this to him deserves to die.

Thor's path is altered when he hears people talking about the tesseract, then sees Agent Romanoff walking towards him in the direction of the lab. Thor follows just to enter the room and hear parts of the conversations.

"What were you lying?" Tony asks Furry.

"I was wrong, director." Steve says while standing infront of Furry, "The world hasn't changed a bit."

"Did you know about this?" Doctor Banner asks from across the room while looking at Agent Romanoff who's standing right next to Thor.

"You want to think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?" She asks and completely avoids Banner's question.

To which Banner chuckles. "I was in Calcutta. I was pretty well removed."

"Loki is manipulating you-" Thor wanders about her words, 'She doesn't know that someone is also manipulating Loki.' Thor tells himself.

"And you've been doing what, exactly?" Banner questions back.

"You didn't come here-" Thor huffs to himself and crosses his arms, getting annoyed that everyone is arguing about things that aren't important.

Thor's mind pays attention to their conversation again when Fury points at him while saying, "Because of him."

"Me?" Thor asks dumbfounded.

"Last year, Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town." Banner looks between Fury and Thor as he and everyone else listens. "We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned."

Thor lowers his arms and stands up for himself. "My people want nothing but peace with your planet."

"But you're not the only people out there, are you?" Fury raises his voice slightly. "And you're not the only threat." Then he turns back to everyone else. "The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, that can't be controlled-"

"Like you controlled the cube?" Steve chimes in, his voice laced with annoyance.

"Your work with the Tesseract is why Loki is here." Thor takes a few steps further into the lab as he talks. "It is a signal to all of the realms that Earth is ready for a higher form of war."

"A higher form?" Steve chimes in again.

"You forced our hand." Fury states. "We had to come up with something-"

"A nuclear deterrent." Tony almost yells out. "Because that always calms everything right down."

"Remind me again how you made your fortune, Stark." Fury snarkily says.

"I'm sure if he still made weapons, Stark would be neck-deep-"

Tony interrupts Steve, "Hold on. How is this now about me?"

"I'm sorry, isn't everything?" Steve spits back.

Annoyed, Thor charms in. "I thought humans were more evolved than this."

"Excuse me, did we come to your planet and blow stuff up?" Fury asks in response.

"You treat your champions with such mistrust."

But the bickering slows down a little with what Agent Romanoff says, "Are you boys really that naive? S.H.I.E.L.D. monitors potential threats."

"Captain America's on threat watch?" Banner asks with a slight chuckle and the arguing continues.

With all the bicker no one seems to notice the hum from Loki's scepter. It feeding off of everyone's distrust and anger. It poisoning everyone around it.

"You speak of control but yet you court chaos-"

"That's his M.O. isn't it?" Everyone is quiet and looking at Banner. "I mean, what are we, a team? No, we're a chemical mixture that makes chaos." Banner's voice starts to edge further and further towards unsettling. "We're a time bomb."

"You need to step away." Fury states.

Thor pays no attention to the bickering between Tony and Steve. From what Agent Romanoff found out during her interrogation with Loki, he knows that Banner is his target, so his attention is on him.

"Agent Romanoff, would you escort Dr. Banner to his-"

"Where?" Banner interrupts Fury. "You rented my room-"

"The cell was just in case-"

"In case you needed to kill me. But you can't. I know, I tried." To that sentence, everyone in the lab is looking at Banner with wide eyes. "I got low. I didn't see an end. So, I put a bullet in my mouth, and the other guy spit it out." Banner places his hand on the table behind him that has the scepter on it. "So I moved on. I focused on helping other people. I was good. Until you dragged me back into this freak show and put everyone here at risk. You want to know my secret Agent Romanoff?" Banner picks up the scepter as he continues. "You want to know how I stay calm?"

Out of instinct, everyone gets ready to fight off Banner. They all know what he can turn into and with the scepter in hand who knows what he'll do.

"Dr. Banner," Steve says from the other side of the room. "put down the scepter."

Banner looks down at his hand in surprise, he had no idea that he touched the scepter let alone picked it up. He looks up at everyone, then the computer goes off. Banner puts down the scepter and then goes to the computer.

"Oh my god-"

Boom!
