A Cold Morning

Thor wakes from a cool breeze blowing along his arm. He opens his eyes just enough to glare towards the window that he broke last night.

As another breeze blows through the broken glass, Thor starts to move to pulls a blanket over himself. However, he stops when he notices the weight on his bare chest.

Thor peers down to find Loki's head laying on the right side of his chest and the rest of Loki's body curled up against his side. Thor smiles to himself.

He moves a couple of pieces of long black hair out of Loki's face and sees him sleeping peacefully. But within seconds that changes.

Loki's soft expression turns into a grimace and his once warm body turns freezing cold. Then his skin turns blue.

Thor had seen that before, even before last night. He never told Loki or anyone really. Thor had seen Loki's skin turn blue when they went to Jotunheim. He had watched the armors fall from Loki's arm and the Frost Giant grab him, but instead of falling in pain and his arm bursting into chunks of frozen flesh like other Asgardians, Loki's skin turned the same blue as the Giants'.

'If I would've told him I didn't care what species he is and that I love him all the same, would he have never fallen into the black hole? Would he have never been tortured? Would he have stayed with me?' Thor wonders to himself as he feels all around him grow cold.

Thor huffs, to which he can see his breath. And a moment later his teeth are chattering.

"Loki~" Thor shakes him. "Loki!" Thor yells.

Loki's eyes open wide when he hears Thor yelling for him. He feels Thor shaking against him and sits up to see his brother is freezing.

"Oh shit." Loki looks down at his hands and finds them to be blue. He closes his eyes for a moment and thinks about anything other than the dream he just had. When he opens his eyes once more his skin is back to peach. He lets out a sigh of relief. "Sorry I-" His words stop as he looks at Thor.

A part of Thor's chest and his side are light blue with cracked skin. Loki reaches his hand out and the skin cracks more making Thor let out a heavy breath.

"I did that?" Loki just stares at Thor's side in disbelief. He has never froze anyone and he especially didn't want to freeze Thor.

Thor grabs Loki's hand, making Loki jump a little. Though Loki knows the fear he feels towards Thor isn't real his memories tell him otherwise. He pushes the thoughts away and holds Thor's hand gently.

"I'm fine, Loki," He forcefully smiles, "frostbite has never killed anyone-"

"Yes it has, you smartass." Loki glares at him. "But I can surely fix this."

"That confident, huh?" Thor says trying to joke but he knows Loki sees right through it, especially with the look he's getting from him.

Loki slowly lets go of Thor's hand as he remembers a healing spell that he had used once before. He moves his hands to hover over Thor's iced skin and starts mumbling the spell. Loki's eyes close as he focuses every bit of his sorcery on healing Thor.

Thor watches him in awe. He had heard this spell before, however he couldn't quite place it. But as warm beams of light shine from Loki's hands, Thor remembers.

Loki had used this spell on Thor when they were teenagers. When Thor had gotten into a brawl with his friends and got a cut on his face as a result. Thor remembers how Loki blushed while performing the spell, just like he is now.

*Creak* "Thor have you seen-" Frigga walks into the room and gasps.

At the sound of his mother's voice Loki loses focus and the spell stops.

"Ah!" Thor lets out as the cracks on his skin spreads.

"Oh my Gods," Frigga says as she rushes across the room, "what have you done?"

Loki moves to the foot of Thor's bed to be out of his mother's way. Little does his mother know how her words hurt him.

"Don't. Blame. Him." Thor says through chattering teeth.

"Hush now, just breathe, I'm going to fix it." Frigga says as she holds her hands over Thor and starts muttering the words to a stronger healing spell.

Loki holds his knees to his chest and watches as Frigga slowly heals Thor. 'Thanos was right.' Echoes through his mind, sending him down the rabbit hole.
