I love the ocean dock in front of our new home. Throughout the day many 'neighbors' visit.
We've got a new neighbor
Geriatric and slow
I look at her and wonder
Where's she been, where'll she go
Popping in and out
Never know when she'll show
Always making a splash
A sea aficionado
Wears the same outfit
Each day, head to toe
Her jewelry's unique
From places I don't know
Swimming's her past time
In a sea of indigo
Diving deep surprises
Living a life of Crusoe
A tiny home dweller
One she'll never outgrow
When bored she relocates
Exhibiting bravado
She goes by Ms. Myrtle
From our archipelago
The graceful sea turtle
Floating in the shallow
P.S. Although many things are found in the waters near our home (Sting rays, puffer fish, coral fish...) I have a fascination with the many sea turtles that are seen daily. Don't know why, but I especially love seeing them. One particularly large gal (don't even actually know if it is a she) wears what I consider her clothes, her beautiful shell. The jewelry I refer to are the barnacles that have attached to her shell.
