The old, the tried, the true. That's what I think of you...
A Hiker's Life
A companion on many strolls
Terrains that have tried us both
I rely on the comfort you provide
Your absence traversing I loathe
Time silently changes appearance
Your tanned skin has aged with grace
Weathered and flawed you may be
Still, I'm protected by your embrace
Bound by a physical connection
My soul aches with each step
Replacing you is absurd
Perhaps a sole upgrade for pep
Some days my heels rebel
Miles onward, cracked and bruised
Stand with me while I heal
Abandonment, you refused
Trip and bite my wayward tongue
Spewing words I'll not repeat
You hold yours so well
Invincible, I can't compete
Nature provides booby-traps
An arch enemy in disguise
A thorny branch pierces
My leather love, it's your demise
