Week 239 - Alone

I love walking the pup each morning. Alone, it's peaceful and starts the day off right...

Alone

Endless gamaskamazing mornings

Jacketed, chilly air sends shivers

Sprinklers shower new landscaping

Fresh cement covered in mini rivers

Unbeknownst invisible substance

Muddy gunk that is slippery as snot

Pup "Prancy Pants" sails right through

A contortionist we now know I'm not

Slipping and sliding through the muck

No one bears witness to the fall

Bloody and covered in poo colored goo

To grass carpeted road verge I crawl

Call to daughter goes unanswered

Phone just rings to no avail

Used reclaimed water to wash

Breathe in but consciously exhale

Knee and foot drip bloodied mud

Mixed with what I don't want to think

At home shower and bandaged

Heating pad, pain pill, hot tea to drink

"What's hurting the worst" I'm asked

"Your knee, foot, butt, or back?"

My response is immediate

"It's the pride that's under attack!"
