There's plenty of upside to being the spawn of the fabulously wealthy.
But the downside? Super successful parents expect nothing less from their offspring.
And when it comes to college, that means the Ivys.
It's more than just getting into college, it's setting a course for the rest of your life.
And for those who aren't legacies, the pressures are no less.
When parents have sacrificed for their children's futures, what kid would want to let them down?
I try to hold back a yawn as I sit with Blair listening to Mrs. Richard and Mr. Williams talk about Ivy Week and the importance of it all.
Unlike Blair I did not have my eyes set on any particular school.
Dad went to Columbia and mom went to Brown but growing up neither of them pressured me into wanting to go to one of those two schools.
A few years after mom left I had focused all of my attention into getting into the schools on the West Coast in hopes of rekindling our relationship but I eventually thought out of that childlike mentality as I realized that if she wanted to rekindle our relationship she would have tried to reach out to me by now.
I got so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize the meeting had ended and Blair was out in the hallway confronting Serena yet again.
Not wanting to engage in that I walked off only to bump into Chuck.
"Morning Chuck. What did I do to be graced with your presence so early in the morning." I speak sarcastically.
"Oh London. Sweet sweet London. I actually come bearing valuable information." he tells me.
"And what is that information?" I question.
"Don't tell Blair about what happened to you and Nate." he tells me
"Why not." I question "You were just encouraging me to tell her the other day" I tell him.
"You and I both know that Blair will be mad as hell if she finds out that not one but two of her best friends betrayed her.
It qualifies for war and I'm afraid it will be a war you won't be able to win." he tells me.
"What do you know, because you wouldn't be telling me this if you did not know something." I respond
"My lips are sealed. But seriously I'm begging you to drop it." Chuck pleads.
Confused by that whole conversation I make my way to my next class trying to sort my thoughts out.
