Chapter 8

Good morning Upper East Siders. 

Last night was explosive and I can't wait to see when this ticking time bomb will erupt again.

As I walk up the steps to school Chuck appears by my side. 

"Hey! Congrats again on the club!! Sorry I couldn't come. Nate needed someone to talk to after his break up with Blair last night." I apologize to Chuck. 

"No worries. I had a great time. Also while it seems Nate was down and out last night Blair was quite the opposite. Didn't you hear? She got down and dirty with someone." Chuck unleashes all this information to me. 

"What! With who?" I ask. 

"Also keep your voice down Chuck," I slap him on his back.

 "No one knows that they broke up except us so if you keep your mouth shut she can try to fix things between them." I scold him. 

Chuck sighs before asking me. "Did your night with Nate end in a kiss?" 

He had an unrecognizable look in his eyes. 

He looked...angry?? 

"No. Chuck that was a one time thing and will never. ever. happen again. All we did was talk about his feelings and I made sure he didn't get alcohol poisoning from drowning his sorrows in some liquor." Chuck watches me carefully as if he was looking for any signs of me lying. 

"I'm going to class. See you later" I tell him before walking away wondering why he seemed so off this morning.

I sat at some high tables with Serena and Blair as we overlooked the party. 

"Hey, so where's Nate?" Serena asked. 

"He should be here soon." Blair replies. 

I decided to help Blair out by changing the subject from Nate to Dan. 

"So where is Dan?" I ask Serena. 

"He said he's coming but I haven't talked to him since this morning." Serena answered, seeming a little sad. 

"You should check on him. Make sure that friend hasn't whisked him away to do some friendly activities." I tell Serena jokingly. 

Blair scuffs before standing up to leave. 

"Oh shut up London" she says as Serena giggles before spotting Chuck across the room. "Oh look there's Chuck. I bet he knows where Nate is." Serena went to go talk to Chuck while I dragged Blair on to the dance floor.

Later that evening I walk around looking for a restroom when I quite literally run into Chuck.

 "Oh, hey! Do you know where Nate is? Blair is going crazy." I ask him. 

"I don't but look..I um.. I got you a present. I know it's not your birthday but you've had a crazy few weeks with Carter coming back, befriending Serena, dealing with our dad's crazy work schedules. I thought you could use something nice." he explains. 

I couldn't believe what was going on before me. 

"Chuck you, you didn't have to do this." I tell him. 

"I know but I wanted to." he responds. 

He then moves behind me to help place the necklace on me.
