Chapter 18 : Surrounded

When we crossed the city border I could smell the smoke....the decay of everything...

Fires burned all around us as we drove down the streets full of vampires attacking....feeding.

My mind travelled to Luke....did he have any part in this......why would they do this

"My brother worked at a club....he was head of security......it's just another block away"Jo said beginning to speed up as vampires started chasing us.

"Jo....you do know that he could be...."

"No he isn't....I know he's still alive Jimmys smart...and strong he's ok"

Suddenly I felt something pull at my leg.

It was a newborn.

"Get the hell off of me"I screed kicking it's face.

"Here....it won't kill him...but just use it" Joe said passing me a gun from her pocket.

I reloaded it....then continued to shoot it until it finally gave up falling into the city street.

"Thanks for that"I said.

She took a sharp left turn and into a side alley where the bike scidded to a stop.

"It's through those doors there"Jo informed me jumping off the bike.

I pulled off the helmet and handed her the gun.She took it and hid it back inside her jacket.

It was a large double door with graffiti all over it and a couple colourful posters about people performing inside.

Jo pushed at the doors......without much effort the doors fell off their hinges making a loud sound when it hit the ground.

"Shit...."Jo murmured stepping inside......there were bodies everywhere both vampires and humans.

"They must of attacked here too"

Jo ran over to the bar.She looked behind it.

"He isn't here"She sounded relieved.

"He must of gotten out.....let's check the kitchens...."I suggested

She nodded.

I pushed open the kitchen doors...to darkness.

I flicked at the switch no lights came on.

"Powers out"Jo explained.

I slowly stepped forward through the doorway into the dark.

I could feel bodies below me and tried not to step on them.

"Be careful Watson"Jo whispered.

All of a sudden I felt a hard hit to my chest and my body hit the wall.

I felt a knife at my neck.

"Whoever you are....you are surrounded"A males voice called out in the dark.

"We're not vampires"Jo called at him.

"State your names"the one holding the knife ordered.

"Emmeline Watson"!!!!

"Em....."I heard a familiar voice say.

It sounded like.....

"Luke keep quiet" the voice shouted at him.

"Well well well.....looks like you didn't escape us afterall"The first said.

I knew now who it was.Ashton

"Look I'm here in peace....the both of us are"

"How can we trust you"Ashton questioned

"On my life......i have more things to worry about then you four.

The knife pulled away from my neck.

"Were you followed the person who had held the knife to my neck said....it was Calum.

"No....."I answered.

"Come with us"He took my arm and lead me over to some steps.

Jo followed....along with Ashton and Luke.

At the top of the steps I could see light shining in from behind a door.

Calum opened it....the light flew in.

"We've been staying here.....it was out friend the owners apartment"Calum explained as we all entered.

It was lavishly decorated only in black and white each thing you looked at looked like it had cost over a thousand.

"Was"?Jo said worried.

"We came here a few hours ago after the newborns began the riot.....we came to get help from Luke's brother Jack....we were only here a minute or two before the new borns came....killing everyone.....we fought back.....well Luke and I......Ashton's leg is torn up and Michael can hardly walk"

"Do want something to eat"Calum asked Jo and I.

"What.....Calum she's our prisoner....you can't just give her food"Ashton scolded him.

"Ash.....that shit is done......I'm done with all of that.....we're all against the same thing now....we have to work together"Calum snapped back at him.

"Fine....give them our supplies...go a head"Ashton said annoyed.

"Yeah I will "go a head" here"Calum said taking out two apples from a fruit bowl.

"Thanks"Jo said taking a bite out of it.

"Your both safe here"
