Sitting in the living room, the tv in front of you playing some Netflix special about a dude who was stuck inside for a whole year. You didn't know. You watched as the guy sing about himself turning 30 while being inside during the pandemic. It would have been interesting if your mind wasn't filled with thoughts. A few days ago, your partner had broken up with you. They weren't happy with you anymore, blaming it on you streaming too much and not paying attention to them enough.
"You've been streaming too much. You keep hanging out with your friends too much and not paying attention to me," They said. You felt terrible. You felt like if you had maybe tried harder you would still be together. It made your head spin. You needed to do something to get your mind off of the breakup. You couldn't go hang out with your roommates, they were streaming and you didn't want to bother them. You could go stream, but you didn't really feel up to it. Getting up, you decided to cook some food.
Heading to the kitchen, you looked through the notebook you kept in there with different recipes you had made or found so you could make them later. Picking out a fairly simple one, you got out the ingredients.
Peanut butter and jelly of your choice
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamonwisk together
In a pan, melt butter on medium heat. Dip both sides of the sandwich in the mix and immediately put in pan. Cook both sides for 3 minutes. Cut into triangles and stack neatly. Dress with fruit of your choice, powdered sugar, and honey.
While cooking the food, you might have gone a bit overboard. You ended up making enough for you, your roommates, and an extra plate. Deciding to make 3 plates, one for each of you, you grabbed some fruit out of the fridge. Strawberries, apples, and blueberries. Cutting up the apple and strawberries, you neatly put them on the plates around the french toast sandwich concoctions. Sprinkling some powdered sugar on afterward, and drizzling the honey on top.
Satisfied with the outcome, you Grabbed the one undressed plate and put it in the fridge to reheat later if anyone wanted it. Grabbing 2 of the plates, you headed upstairs to your roommate's streaming rooms. Knocking on the first door, you heard your roommate shout "Come in", so you opened the door. The inside of the room had a few anime and pokemon posters inside and had a blue and pink theme to it. Looking at your roommate who sat in his chair looking at the monitors playing warzone, in front of him. "What's up?" He asked looking at you.
You held up the plate. "I was bored so I made food, but I made extra," You said walking into the room further attempting not to show your face. Puffer stood up and walked to the door and grabbed the plate. "Thanks, man, smells great! What is it?" He asked sitting back down putting the plate on his desk. "Peanut butter jelly french toast. It's actually pretty good," You said about to close the door. "Grizzy wants to know if you made him any," Puffer said gesturing to the monitors in front of him. "What kind of roommate would I be if I didn't?" You said closing the door and heading to the room across the hallway.
Knocking on the door, it opened almost immediately so see Grizzy standing there. Giving him the plate, he thanked you. "Thanks, (Y/n)! Always look forward to your cooking," He said smiling. "Nah, I ain't that good," You said. "You kidding me? You're the best cook in this house." He said sitting back down as he took a bite of the food. "Holy shit!" He said. "What, somethin' messed up with it? I made an extra-" You said. "No! No no no, this is great!" He said cutting you off.
Smiling, you responded. "Glad to be of service!" You said closing the door and going back down to eat your own food.
Maybe things would turn out ok.
