Things hadn't been the same since the plane crash.

The first thing you remembered after waking up was being shaken by a man covered in blood, his clothes torn. Your vision was blurry, and looking down didn't do much good either, seeing as you were also covered in blood, bits of glass stuck in your arms. Your ears were ringing, but as it started to fade, you could make out what he was saying.

"...ey? Are you ok? Can you hear me?" He must've noticed your eyes starting to close slightly, because he began snapping his fingers in front of your face. "Hey, hey stay with me, alright?" He said, your eyes opening almost fully before shutting again, the sunlight outside hitting your eyes making you shut them again before raising a hand to cover them, only to wince in pain as the glass shifted uncomfortably.

"Don't move, I've got a med kit, you'll be ok," He said, opening a red box with a white plus on it, and taking out some bandages. After what felt like hours, he finally finished bandaging your arms. You moved them and flexed slightly, making sure they held before he spoke again.

"Do you think you can walk?" He asked. You grabbed the top of the seat in front of you, hoisting yourself up. Your knees buckled for a moment before adjusting. Looking over at the seat next to you, you thought you would see the body of the child that had been traveling with you, but he wasn't there. He was just...

Gone.

The man must've noticed your panicked face, speaking. "I know this probably does not help, like at all, but i think I saw him walk out with something." straightening up your posture, you went to make a move to walk out of the gaping hole in the plane, only to stumble slightly, the stranger catching you before you could fall.

"Easy there, you're still hurt. Listen, I know you probably hate this idea, but we need to set up some kind of camp. I don't know what I saw but it was not human," helping you stand back up, he spoke again. "Well, considering we're probably going to be stuck here for a bit, I guess we need some kind of introduction?" he said, holding out his hand for you to shake. "Smitty,"

"(Y/n)."

Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months, and slowly the date of the sixth month rolled around. The two of you had built a shelter that was surrounded by large log stakes that- for the most part- kept the cannibals of the island out. Night crept around, the only thing letting you keep the actual time was your watch that you figured would run out of battery some time soon. As the sun set, Smitty closed the large door to the wall around the shelter, locking it shut with a large plank. Taking down the last of the rabbit pelts that had been drying, you stacked them and brought them into the house.

It was decently small to conserve recourses, only having one bed and two chests for extra things either of them found like rocks, rope, hell even a few sticks of dynamite. When you asked him about why there was only one bed, you got the response of 'we need to conserve resources and body heat. It gets cold at night.'

When he walked in, you had already laid down, your arms resting behind your head as he lay next to you, letting out a sigh of relief. After sitting in silence for a moment, you spoke up. There hadn't been much to talk about since the crash, having been stuck together for 6 months meant you ran out of things to talk about pretty quickly.

"D'you have anyone that's missing you?"

He looked over at you, a sad look flashing over his face as he sat up, you doing the same. "I was visiting friends in the U.S., I was heading home but- yeah. I tried not to think about it to much. Eye on the prize of surviving, y'know?" he said, looking over at you. "What about you?"

"I was headed up to Canada to see my brother. That kid- he was my nephew. He was staying with me while they figured out some housing things. Other than that I don't really have anything. I don't talk to my parents much and I didn't have any close friends." you responded, looking down at your hands, still scarred from the glass.

"Wait, he's not like- your son?"

Looking over at him, confused, you spoke. "Nope, never even been in a relationship."

"Would you like to be?"

You could feel a heat rise to your face, reaching your ears. had you grown feelings for him? possibly. uBt were you brave enough to take that first step and try? Hell no! If you fucked that up, it would be awkward between you two, and then what?

You blinked a few times stuttering out a response. "I- well, uh, yeah, sure, I just- I don't know how to do this whole, uh, relationship thing, heh,"

Getting pulled into a hug by him, he rubbed circles into your back. Resting his chin on your shoulder, he mumbled. "I swear, the moment we get off the island and back to main land, I'm gonna take you on the best date ever, you hear me?"

He hugged you a little tighter, the two of you laying down in each others arms, the sounds of the forest and the night air drifting the two of you off to sleep.

Who could've guessed you would find someone who you loved and loved you back in a forest full of cannibals?
