==============

As you walked though the woods, you double checked you had everything you needed in your bag.

Candles, Chalk, Notebook, Pocket knife, Canned chicken.

Yup, that was everything.

Finding an old stone walkway, you carefully walked along the path, slowing your pace when you heard something that wasn't you move. It was getting dark as sunset approached, a cabin coming into view. Stopping at the door, you remembered the article you read.

'Knock the door 3 times, then tap the doorframe twice. It's rude to enter without knocking first.'

Taking in a deep breath, you slowly rapped your knuckles on the door 3 times, then tapping the doorframe. Holding your breath, you opened the door and walked in, shutting the door behind you carefully.

Looking around, you noted that the place had the old house smell to it. Musty, but full of memories. Walking around for a bit, you found the room you were looking for, the door hanging off its hinges, broken, with claw marks dragged along it. Swallowing any fear you had, you stepped in reminding yourself why you were there.

For him, you're doing it for him.

Your friend was being followed by...something. Neither of you were sure what, but it was something that definitely wanted him dead.

You only knew this, because whatever it was attacked him, and he was now in the hospital, vulnerable, where whatever it was could get him.

Sitting in the middle of the room, you pulled out the things you needed and got to work. Making a circle in front of you with the chalk,  you drew four lines that branched off, making four smaller circles at the end of each. In the center, you drew an eye shape, a single line down the middle. Taking your notebook, you read out what you had written down.

"Πλάσμα της νύχτας, σε καλώ μπροστά, θέλώ να κάνω μια συμφωνία.*"  The Greek language was rich on your tounge as you spoke. Lucky for you, that was the bridging phrase. Placing each of the candles down, you lit them while turning back to the book. Opening the can, you placed it off to the right of the circle.

Now came the hard part.

Taking the knife, you took a deep breath as you placed the blade on your hand, you pressed down quickly and dragged, blood flowing from your hand. Gritting your teeth, you placed your hand on the eye and dragged it slightly, the top candles flames turning purple, the bottom two turning green. Lifting your hand, you winced the draft in the house hitting your hand. "Creature, come forward, the night is here."

The eye in the center glowed a pink purple and a dark figure rose quickly from the ground, the candles going out and the center stopping its glowing once its feet hit the floor. Looking up, you could only make out a vague outline of it. Tall, very tall, what looked like not one, but 2 pairs or arms, each crossed over the opposing sides, its head had large, cat like ears, and a long tail.

"Oh, goodness its dark in here, lets get some lighting, yes?"

You heard what sounded like soft clapping, then soft lights appeared, seemingly from nowhere. You could now make out what it looked like. A large black cat with 2 sets of arms, 2 pairs of eyes, the top ones being purple, the bottom ones being green. He was wearing a white button up, with purple waistcoat over top. He looked down at you before smiling. "Ah! You must be the one that summoned me. Here, lets get you cleaned up," He said, lifting you up from under your arms, dusting off your arms with his other two arms.

"Well, aren't you the cutest thing? Oh yes, your hand, here, some bandages," He said, swiping his paw, a roll of bandages appearing as he handed them to you. Still in shock, you slowly wrapped the bandages around your wounded hand. "Perhaps I should introduce myself. Nick Nocturne, at your service." He said, holding out a large paw for you to shake. Taking it, you shook his hand. His grip was not to tight, but not to loose either. after a moment of shaking it, he flipped your hand over, kissing the back, a small heat rising to your face.

Releasing your hand, he spoke.

"Now, you came here to make a deal, yes? What'll it be? Money? Fame? Powe-"

"My friend."

He looked at you, surprised. "Your friend? Strange, people usually only come to me for self beneficial things, what's wrong with your friend?"

"Somethings after him. I don't know what, neither of us can see it, but yesterday it attacked him, and now he's in the hospital, I'm just afraid whatever it is will get him while he's vulnerable. Can you help?"

Grabbing your notebook, you flipped to a page where you wrote down how your friend was feeling when he said he felt like he was being followed, Handing to Nick. He looked though the notes, humming in thought as he read. "This sounds like a wayward spirit. They can be tricky to deal with, but it shouldn't be a problem. However..."

He looked over at you after closing the notebook. "There is the talk of payment. That's usually how this goes." He said with a lopsided grin. You hadn't thought about that. "I, uh, well I didn't think of that," You said looking to the side.

Nick felt some kind of sympathy for you. You weren't here for self gain, you were there to help somebody. And he admired that.

"Tell you what," He said, you looking up at him. "I'll help your friend, and in return, I latch myself to your spirit." You were confused. "What do you mean?"

"Well, it gets awful lonely in purgatory, so, if I latch myself onto your spirit, I get to stay up here with you!" He said with a grin. "Won't people think its strange for a 8 foot cat with 2 arms to be following me?"

"Only the one who summons me can see me. Plus, its completely safe, no paperwork required. All I need is a handshake." He said, holding out his paw.

Shaking his hand, you felt a warm chill run up your spine and what felt like something tracing a shape on your upper arm. Looking at it, you saw a small paw print with an eye in the center. "Just a small side affect, nothing too major, now, lead the way  to your friend, I'll see what I can do to help."

============

Entering the hospital, you found your friends room, Nick following behind you. When you entered, you saw a figure that was most definitely not human. It looked like a large rat that stood on its hind legs, hunched over your friend, ready to bite down. Letting out a small yelp, you spoke. "W-What is that thing?"

"That's the spirit, I'll take it from here."

Jumping into action, Nick grabbed the spirit with two arms, a book appearing in his other two. Muttering something that sounded like a mix of Latin and Greek. The thing screamed before disappearing, turning into nothing.

Your friend opened his eyes slightly, looking at you. "(Y/n), is that you?"

"Sam! Hey, how do you feel?"

"Like a weight's been lifted off my shoulders. I don't know what you did, but thank you. I'm gonna go back to sleep, I'm tired as hell." He said, slipping back into sleep. Looking over at Nick, he had a small smile on his face. Rushing over to him, you hugged him. He was surprised, to say the least. It had been, what 100 or so years since he had one of those? Wrapping his arms around you, he picked you up as you hugged him, his bottom arms rubbing your back slightly.

"Thank you, Nick. Thank you so much."

"No problem, ωραίος**."
