The apartment complex had been evacuated for the time being as police walked up the stairs to the second floor. Police had already been there since the hour before. New footsteps went up the stairs, 2 people heading up to the apartment. Stopping at the door where an officer stood to keep pedestrians out. They both hold out badges as the one in front speaks. "Private Investigators (Y/n) and Kryoz," They said as the officer stepped aside. Kryoz looked at them, confused. "You may only be in training, but on the field, this is the real deal. There is no theoretical situations. This is the real deal." They said with a smile, walking into the living room.

Their smile dropped when they saw the scene. 3 bodies, splayed out across the small living room that connected to the kitchen. walking to an officer that stood next to one of the bodies, looking over it. On the counter of the kitchen was a box of rubber gloves, so you grabbed yourself a pair, handing the box to Kryoz, him taking out a pair as well, setting the box down on the counter. Pulling on the gloves, (Y/n) crouched down next to the first body. their face was empty, quite literally. one of the eyes had been gauged out.

Looking over the body, they looked up at Kryoz. "Take a look a at the other bodies faces for me, I want to see something." They said going back to looking at the body in front of them. Walking over to the smallest corpse, his hands were shaky. This was his first time in the field. If all went well, he would be done with training. Crouching down, he gently lifted the head of the body, only to find, once again, one eye was gauged out, along with the throat being slit. Putting the head back down and standing back up, he saw his partner standing next to the last cadaver that was in the kitchen, dried blood on the cabinets below the counter.

"Was one of the eyes on that one gauged out too?" They asked as he stood next to them. "Yeah and the throat was slit too." He said. They let out a hum while writing something down. "Officer Barron, may I speak to you outside?" They said as the duo stepped out to talk to the officer.

"I have an idea of who we're looking for. 2 months ago we were looking for someone who committed a crime very similar to this. I believe it may be him. What I don't understand is how he got out, there was no blood on the doorknob and none on the sink, he couldn't have cleaned his hands, gloves are a possibility, but-"

"What if he went out the window?"

(Y/n) and Barron both looked at him for a moment. "I mean, there were shoeprints, he clearly stepped in blood, and there's prints by the window next to the fire escape." He said looking at them. "That, makes sense, can we get some dogs below and see if we can track anything? And get someone of that window to check for prints." (Y/n) said as the officer called for the things they asked. "Now what?" Kryoz asked as they disposed of their gloves and started out the building. "Now we wait. Whatever evidence they find will go to the labs, then we can step in after to finish the job." They said as the two got back into the car they arrived in.

"You seem shaken," They said looking at him. "I am, its just, bodies, blood, its a bit much." He said looking at his hands. "I get how you feel. It doesn't get easier from here, I'll be honest, but you get used to it. And solving a case always gives you closure." They said with a smile, putting a comforting hand on his back.

What a strange way to spend a Christmas.
